Having extraordinary sense of balance, this gluffle uses its tail and protohooves to cling to sheer drops of the savanna and hot steppe mountains. They are even capable of twisting their bodies to remain upright should they loose their grip and skid down the mountain. Their powerful hearts alow them to breath the thin air at so high an elevation. Klipherpells's elongated snout and prehensile lips help them grab hard-to-reach food anchored into the rocks (they are not picky and will eat anything they find.) Pale fur and skinny bodies help them dissipate heat, and to avoid getting too cold at night they activate their metabolism while resting, standing half alert. While crepuscular, they can keep awake during the day and thus their vision is always tinted to handle the strong sunlight. Within a year this gluffle matures after breathing in klipherpell pollen. During this time they play-chase each other to establish a bond, with more dominant individuals taking on a more 'male' role and changing peltage. and after mating each will leave their partner of the year to locate a good egg-laying spot. The optimal place has shade for part of the day and is inaccessible to hungry krytes. Eggs are tapered at one end such that when jostled they roll in a tight circle instead of falling to their death. Within two weeks the eggs hatch and the hellions go off on their own, capable of being fully independent.
