Description
So, this has been sitting on my hard drive for a good long while and I figured I'd better go ahead and submit it.Here's the incredibly awesome Team TARDIS from series 5 of Doctor Who - the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, and Rory Williams, setting out for some new adventures in time and space. I drew this back before the series started, back in February or March I think, for a scrapbook project at the doctoreleven community on LiveJournal.
I had every intention of doing more work on this--doing soft shading and turning it into a true digital painting--but the hard drive that held the layered PSD crashed and burned and all I had left was a full-resolution flattened jpeg that I had (thank god) saved to my desktop for some reason. So, here you go.
Also there is a sad lack of Rory fanart on the interwebs. I shall seek to rectify this if I can ever get off my lazy ass and draw some. (Rory is my favorite. Badass Roman centurion broom boy ... I'd marry Rory and/or Arthur Darvill if I weren't, you know, already married. And American.)

Not always. If you notice by the end of the series Rory and the Doctor are getting along rather well.

Well, she definitely has her less-than-stellar moments, I'll give you that. Really hoping she treats Rory better in S6. (I am first and foremost a huge Rory fan.)

Well, remember that when they got married it was in a timeline where she'd never met the Doctor.
Anyway. WOOHOO FOR MARRIED COUPLE IN THE TARDIS. Also hoping (because of that different timeline) we see a bit of a kindler, gentler Amy too. I'm shameless, I want my fluffy shippiness.

I can't speak for everyone, but I personally do not find her irritating. She's one of the saner companions of the Doctor, even if her self-confidence is extremely low half of the time. I also like that he doesn't have a romantic relationship with her.

but its kinda like mickey, rose, and the doctor all over again. anyway, i think my main problem is that shes always kinda pushing herself forward like in the beast below, when she releases the whale

Well, yes, it is kinda similar to that relationship, only the Doctor doesn't have any..... interest in Amy. Mostly because he is both too young and too old at the same time. Coming and going, eh? And while she pushes herself forward in a similar manner to Rose, her brains are not made out of sawdust, which is very unlike Rose indeed. Sheesh, Rose Tyler was one idiotic person. Amy, not so much. And what's wrong with being forward, if you're smart enough and kind enough to be doing the right thing at the time? That's half the appeal of the Doctor himself for heaven's sake!

I really really love this, not only is the actual drawing amazing (especially the shading and little details), i think there's a really incredible symbolism here.
The doctor is at the front, leading everyone onwards (in mid waffle to! xD).
Amy is in the middle with 'her boys', always at the centre of things and keeping everyone together. Holding the doctor back a bit (so he dosent march right into danger hehe) and keeping rory going.
And last (but not least ;D) is rory, straggling behind, a little bit out of the limelight and taking things slow.
Also amy is holding rorys hand to show love, but the doctors arm to show friendship.
I don't know if all of that was intentional but its still amazing! :3
(it also helps that this is my favourite TARDIS crew since the first of the new series with rose (when i first started watching doctor who!)

I'm not usually big on incorporating symbolism into my art--what little I do, anyway--because most of the time I'm not thinking that far ahead when I draw. But when I did this, what I wanted to convey is pretty much exactly what you wrote. 
Of course, now when I look at this all I see are the things I did wrong or could've done better (can't believe I forgot Amy's scarf!), but on the whole, I'm still really pleased with this, and I'm quite glad others like it too! So thanks a ton for your very nice comment.

No problem, this really cheered me up, it perfectly captured the dynamics of the newest TARDIS team!
Also i find a lot of who fans are suffering david tennent withdrawal symptoms (hopefully theyll recover soon xD) and arent giving the new team enough love.
P.S. i too am a big fan of rory/amy and am glad 11 hasnt fallen for amy as i got a bit tired of 10 kissing every women he met! 11 is a bit more nerdy i think (in a cute way hehe)

Thanks! I would say that I struggled the most with Eleven, but his facial structure is so unique it's like you already have a set template to go by ... so I felt that Amy's face is pretty generic! But thank you for the kind words.
