Description After a long night of fighting off creatures of the night, our heroine tends to her wounds under a red sunrise.

This piece was a loooooong time in the making. I first drew the beginnings of the rough sketch about 3 months ago, inspired to do it by a Kavinsky song called Nightcall. I nitpicked at this drawing on and off, sometimes with weeks between each tweak, until I was finally satisfied with it. Coloring only took 2 nights, but was nearly just as stressful.
Also, I think this marks the first time I've ever had to DE-saturate the colors of a piece to make it look better.

Your color work is really getting there! I love the background skyline; it gives a sense of environment, as Tardino would say, lol. I think also that this piece was worth the wait; everything just comes together so well on it

Thanks I'm glad all those weeks of messing with her face finally paid off.
Normally with all the mixing I do, the colors end up muddy and I have to raise the saturation at the end. With this one, the colors were all too vibrant and energetic and didn't really fit the mood of the character, so I dialed down the saturation by about half.
I still can't tell if spending this much time on a piece was a good thing, or if I need to learn how do this same thing in one week.
