Description Today's daily sketch is of Mark and Bert from Monster Party for the NES. Monster Party originally came out in 1989... Holy shit that was 20 years ago! It's an ok game looking back, but at the time it was so crazy and weird. It was also surprisingly gory for an 8-bit game. Its no Abadox, but its surprising that it came to the U.S. despite Nintendo USA's censorship during that time. Definitely going to a series of Monster Party paintings in 2010!

This was a wierd game, you gotta love how the game is all happy go lucky up until the point when you cross that tree, and then all the smiley faces in the background turn into bleeding skulls and monster faces, lol. I think this is the first Monster Party fan art I've seen on DA so far.

That first level really freaked me out when I was a kid. The rest of the game wasn't really scary just bizarre! Especially that "Sorry, I'm dead!" creature...

Yeah, there's also a lot of doors that say "empty" when you enter them too, sort of like the empty rooms in Kid Icarus. Makes me wonder why they put them there.

Thanks! I'm thinking of doing maybe at least a 24"X 36" canvas. Something with a little size to it
