Hidden in the chaos is the element waiting to strike like snakes, Salem's followers, her pets and the criminal scum sinking their roots in like parasites. But I'm there too, watching. Two years of sleepless nights have turned me from a Huntress of justice into a relentless animal. I must choose my targets carefully. I can't be everywhere, but they don't know where I am. I have a mark now... the mark of the Black Rose... to show where I've been and what I've done. But when they see that mark, it's not just a sign.... It's a warning... to them... to HER. Fear... is a tool... They think I'm hiding in the shadows.... But I AM the shadows."

Flashpoint Summer Rose aka the Black Rose, during her early years on Remnant before it's destruction and her arrival to Earth and partnership with Batman. Consumed with grief and anger unable to cope with the death of her daughter Ruby and tired of being a pawn in Ozpin's long drawn out "chess game" against Salem, Summer Rose severed all ties and contact from her family, friends and former teammates and became a vigilante known as the Black Rose. Abandoning all her morals and obligations as a Huntress to cleanse all evil, be it Grimm, Human or Faunus alike, by any means necessary.
