Description
Ok, I tried something a little different with the colors, but I know the shadows came out looking really messy. I'd like to return to this with some enhanced colors, but after putting in the work to do this much, I felt like showing it off. Hope you like it.Related content

Looks great Ed! are you doing your colors in Sai as well as inks? Have you tried inking in Manga studio?

Thanks, Aaron. This was colored entirely in Photoshop 7, actually. Old School. I tried doing a little coloring in Sai today, but I'm still not familiar with all the tools and settings. Haven't tried Manga Studio. Is that what you use, or are you still doing stuff with brush and ink?

kind of a mix but mostly Manga Studio. I wish i would have known, a couple weeks ago the had ms ex 4 on sale for 30 bucks. thats so insane. the program is so awesome for inking. It is such a robust program for illustrators. Especially for comics. They have a perspective ruler tool that you can pick your vanishing point and all the lines you draw will automatically go to that vanishing point. it has 2 and 3 point as well. the brushes are fantastic as well. There is just so much good about it. They just came out with v. 5 last week and now it is getting great with color is well. There is a program called clip paint that they kinda modeled v.5 after that is *kinda* like paint tool sai that makes it better for coloring and an all around better software to use. They are trying to compete with photoshop in that they want illustrators to be able to just use manga studio and not have to go back and forth. Its really made for making comics but even if you just do illustrations the inking tools are great. If you couldn't tell i love it.
i will leave you with 2 things.
1. i made a tumblr that has a couple videos of me inking in manga studio. one is a time lapse of me inking a page and there are two others of me inking panels live on livestream. I'm not really using the perspective ruler as much but still some cool stuff.
2. a pretty cool tutorial vid of an awesome guy coloring in paint tool sai.---- [link] ----
3. and his basic tutorial --- [link] ---
ok here is his deviant. you may have seen and heard of him. sorry if you have ---- [link] ----

the colors really make this drawing pop. im usually an ink kinda guy myself, but your work has so much detail that sometimes it needs the color to help you see it all properly

Thanks. Yeah, sometimes I really over-render things. I'm happy with how the colors turned out here. It's kind of hit and miss, though. Sometimes it ends up looking good, sometimes not.
