I like the composition, its great having the moon there, but what ruins it is the whole image is soft, its not you its that shit lens that is always soft. Throw it off a cliff and never buy a cheap tamron lens again. You are lucky enough to live near such an amazing scene, you should invest in some nice glass to do it justice!

thanks, but
no tone mapping - very little tweaking in PS - it's all about getting there before sunrise for the alpin glow.
neutral grad - 3 stops (cokin) (spelling)

thanks - we're you been ???
how are the fall colors back there ?
i hoping to come home mid-may 2011 for 10 days - two full week-ends - we need to get a deviantart meet-up !
as for the pic - it's kinda cool, but if you really look in the upper right and left corners you'll noticed it's terrible OOF - i hate this tamron 10-24 mm lens, but oh ! well....

Hi Ed, yeah I've been sparse on this site lately... just nothing really worth posting. I did catch a Coyote today and will post that pic.
All for setting up a deviant get together when you come back this way.... we have plenty of places to go and shoot pics and I still have a week of vacation time to use up. later George.

thanks, but far from wonderful ! i used my tamron 10-24 mm and i'm really not liking this lens espc at 10mm
if you look in the upper right and left hand corners you'll notice it's real soft and way OOF.....

Hmmm odd, I do see that now, I wonder of a smaller f stop would cure that?

thanks - i'm not to happy with that lens though !
there's some funky shit going on in the upper left and right corners - more so on the right - way OOF
it's one lens i wished i didn't buy - tamron 10-24 mm

Yeah that's a little disappointing. I was using the Tamron 17-50 and it seems much sharper on the edges. I think i'll hit Tokina for an ultrawide angle when i get ready to buy.

i heard go things about the tokina
i have a sigma 17-70 which is sweet - next time i'll just have to do a two shot stitched with the sigma

Yeah, i have an older Tokina wide angle (19-35mm full frame) and it's pretty nice.
I love my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 but their customer service is abysmal and it really deters me from buying another one. Though i've never tried Tamrom or Tokina's CS so who knows?!

That's some killer evening light. Somehow this location never gets old, no matter how many times it pops up in my messages from various deviants, because it's unique every time! Really strong shot. Hope to visit this place someday.

thanks
yeah i really got lucky - with the sun coming up and a little alpin glow going on and the moon setting.
but i'm not to happy with this lens - tamron 10-24 mm
there's some funky shit going on in the upper right and left corners - way soft and OOF

That is some tremendous light! However the upper part of the image seems a bit soft. Good job getting the moon in there though.

yeah ! i hate this lens !
but it's all i got that's wide enough to capture the whole scene
it's the tamron 10-24mm
i thought about doing a stitch with my sigma 17-70mm

Well not to worry the colors and moon make up for any of that. I would probably have been tempted to create a pano with what I have. What focal length did you shoot from?

PeterJCoskun In reply to eDDie-TK [2010-09-28 12:20:40 +0000 UTC]
Ah. Try to see if you can over-sharpen the top portion just a bit. It does look a little sharper when viewed in full view.

eDDie-TK In reply to PeterJCoskun [2010-09-29 00:07:49 +0000 UTC]
i tried the over-sharp
what's there is there - next time i'm gonna use my sigma 17-70 and do a 2 shot stitched
the 17 mm just isn't wide enough to capture the whole scene....

PeterJCoskun In reply to eDDie-TK [2010-09-29 00:10:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, sometimes I wish I had something wider especially for a cropped sensor camera.
i would think doing a stitch would also retain even greater detail as well.

thanks, but i got some funky OOF shit going on in both the upper left and espc the right sides
it's the tamron 10-24mm and i wished i spent my $ on something else - oh well

Yah, I notice that now, you got all the important stuff in sharp focus. I recognize that log, its the one i used for my foreground on the shot I posted from there. I stood on that big rock in the very front of this shot.

that rock (2 rocks) - which has and arrowhead shape formed in the water is a great pointer - points right to hallett
just for the hell of it - it went out there to see if i could move that long - not out of the pic - but in a way where it points more towards hallett - a leading line element (?) but it was sway to heavy for one person.....plus i didn't eat my whaeties that morning (LOL)
