Description
This is an experiment with borders highlighting the thirteen colonial kingdoms on the eastern half of Tarasa. The lore is meant to parallel the basic aspects of American colonialism with some major turning points and fantasy elements. I'll probably edit this at some point with some of the lore.- 1003 CE: Skraelsh Explorers discover Tarasa.
- 1011 CE Skrael Starts settling regions which now constitute the regions of Balmun, Umbria, Kruhn, and Ahntolia Isles.
- 1013 Ce: Sigmund Stenger begins his three year mission to map northeast Tarasa.
- 1016 CE: At the end of three year journey, Tarasa is determined to be too inhospitable to be worth further colonization efforts; those that determined this were not aware of the more temperate southern climate.
- 1021 CE: Skrael sells the modern regions of Lachmawr and Harromoor to the Cerosi nation of Felmouth.
- 1024 CE: Felmouth begins settling the regions of Lachmawr and Harromoor.
- 1036: Skrael sells all land south of Harromoor to the Cerosi Nation of Larthaal
- 1040 CE: Larthaal begins colonizing the regions of Lythume, Valitrai, Herault, Bayenne, and Madoga. This ignites the first large scale war between Massinti and Cerosi Nations. The ensuing conflict between the Madoga Empire and the Larthaal kingdom became known as the Jade War.
- 1042 CE: Floatstone is discovered in Tarasa, and a sudden increase in Cerosi interests results in a flood of colonists and investors.
- 1045 CE: The Cerosi Nation of Raenes begins colonizing the regions of Baergos and Marghul. This starts the One Years War with Larthaal, who had layed claimed to all southern Tarasa.
- 1046: The One Years War is ended, with Larthaal officially surrendering the regions of Baergos and Marghul to Raenes in exchange for a lump sum of gold.
- 1053: A plague ridden Madoga Empire surrenders the regions of Lythume, Valitrai, Herault, and Bayenne to Larthaal. Madoga itself becomes a vassal kingdom to Larthaal, and it's king a puppet of colonial interests. As part of the treaty, All Madogan princes were required to marry Larthaal nobles for three generations.
- 1056: The First Dread War ignites in the regions of Marghul and Baergos; where in a number of dark shamans enslave an army of not quite dead zombis and rebel against their colonial masters.
- 1057: The first Dread War draws the attention of the world when Calahorra is burnt to the ground. Uprisings begin in all the prior parts of the Madogan Empire. Fear for uprisings in their own colonies, The Skraels send soldiers to aid Larthaal and Raenes in ending their rebellions.
- 1061: The First Dread war comes to an end at the same time as a Massinti uprising in the north. The Skraels withdraw their aid from Larthaal in order to deal with their troubles at home.
- 1063: The Madogan revolt is officially put down. The colonials execute as many Madogan nobles as they can. Madoga is no longer a vassal state, but a full on colony.
- 1065: Rumors of escaped Madogan prince Morai Quille inspire more revolts in the Larthaal colonies; which are subsequently put down.
- 1082: The Second Dread war begins with the simultaneous burning of Calahorra, Murcia, and Trujillo.
- 1094: Raenes brokers an agreement with Skrael for aid in the second Dread war in exchange for control of the region now known as Marghul.
- 1101: A revolution in Felmouth changes their government from monarchy to constitutional Monarchy. The colonies become interested in the idea of representation.
- 1105: The Second Dread War comes to an end.
- 1109: Larthaal begins the construction of an underground mage rail system connecting most of its cities.
- 1112: The colonies of Harromoor and Lachmawr revolt in attempt to gain independence from Felmouth.
- 1114: Skrael declares war on Felmouth and invades the colonies of Lachmawr and Harromoor.
- 1116 CE: Skrael officially recognizes native Massinti as citizens, granting them legal protects to their possessions and property. They also broker a deal where in the Massinti will supplement their military ranks.
- 1124: Lachmawr is taken by Skrael forces. Felmouth attempts to broker peace, but the attempt only results in the assassinations of several high ranking Felmouth generals. This in turn causes the Cerosi church to denounce Skrael for warmongering.
- 1125: Skrael forces sweep through Harromoor in short time due to the collapse of Felmouth military structure.
- 1136: The Third Dread War starts and is immediately extinguished. This ignites the Ambrocea Inquisition.
- 1142: Following in the footsteps of Raenes, Larthaal begins an aggressive missionary missions to convert the natives.
- 1144: A law passes in Larthaal allowing Massinti natives to become citizens should they convert to the Cerosi church.
- 1151: Rumor spreads that one of Morai Quille's daughters married a Larthaal noble in attempt to influence colonial powers. Other rumors state that one of his sons is raising a secret army to retake Madoga. Public investigations find no evidence, but it remains in the minds of the commonfolk.
- 1153: Larthaal passes a law forbidding marriage between Cerosi and Massinti.
- 1155: The Otenki Confederacy forms from native massinti tribes that exit in southern Harromoor, Northern Valitrai, and western Lythume. They overthrow local governors in Montauk, Oneida, Harlech, Wabbac, Sharoken, and Talasai and declare themselves a sovereign state. This causes immediate war with Larthaal, while Skraelsh colonials protest Skraels lack of reaction.
- 1159: After years of bloody conflict, the Otenki Confederacy brokers a deal with Skrael which would shift the war from defensive to offensive. They agreed to aid Skrael military invade southern Valitrai and eastern Lythume so long as they retain their independence.
- 1164: Lythume and Valitrai have now been fully conquered by the Skrael-Otenki alliance. A unsteady peace is brokered with Larthaal to prevent further southern expansion. Otenki are immediately betrayed as Simutaneous attacks from north and south on their confederacy occur.
- 1171: The confederacy officially collapses and is completely absorbed into the Skrael Colonial Empire.
- 1188: A series of revolts shake the Larthaal and Raenes Colonial empires. Concessions are made to recognize more Massinti rights, while simultaneously isolate them from Cerosi colonials.
- 1193: Skrael launches a lightning invasion through the mage rails which Larthaal had originally installed.
- 1195: Herault and Bayenne fall to complete Skraelsh control. Skrael launches a naval campaign on the remaining Madoga province.
- 1196: Havalia erupts into a massive war involving nearly every country. Likewise, this war is dragged into the thirteen colonies.
- 1198: Anti-Havalian sentiment grows to a fever pitch as colonials who've fought several decades of Havalian expansionism meet and declare the thirteen colonies sovereign from all Havalian nation states. This erupts into immediate conflict with the remain Skrael, Larthaal, and Raene militaries in the area.
- 1200: A series of deals are brokered across the thirteen colonies with native Massinti groups to garner military aid in exchange for full citizenship and rights to government offices.
- 1203: Skrael is defeated in Havalia, effectively granting most of the thirteen colonies independence.
- 1204: The remaining colonies receive independence from Larthaal and Raenes. The thirteen colonies form into the Tarasa Confederacy: a series of loosely tied republics.
- 1211: The Tarasa Confederacy begins expanding the mage rail into all of its territories.
- 1213: The Tarasa Confederacy commissions the mapping of west Tarasa.
- 1217: Tarasa Confederacy passes several laws creating a federal government, and limiting corporate power. Corporations immediately tart funding anti federal
- 1219: Corporate interests in the guise of Havalian noble blood lines start a revolution to 'reclaim' an 'illegally' taken territory. They hire massive mercenary groups and encourage piracy to destabilize the confederacy.
- 1221: Massinti Uprisings occur across the confederacy in conjunction with the corporate rebellion. The Massinti Uprising have no clear or stated goal.Rumor is abound that the grandchildren of Morai Quille have a hand in the seemingly random Massinti violence.
- 1224: The Confederacy is officially disbanded into the thirteen kingdoms; each ruled by corporate leaders with royal heritages. The 'king' of Lythume is missing for several weeks at the end of the war, before appearing at the capital surrounded by Massinti tribesmen.
