In the Age of the Sky, elvenkind ruled over the river valleys we call home. They were blessed with strange magics by the spirits of the sky. They lived in great cities that reached for the sky. While the elves ruled the forests, the Dragons reigned over the mountains. They taught our ancestors the ways of civilization. The elves began to clash with the Dragons, which brought about the end of both elvenkind and dragonkind. From those ashes, the empires of our own kin rose. We now live in the Age of the Free Kingdoms.

In a distant realm, there lies the world of Kynne. A verdant planet undernear a life-giving sun. Vast oceans encircle the world, hiding secrets forever unknown to the ones on the surface. The first great race were the Frost Wyrms also known as the Osstic, enormous serpentine beast who burst forth from the colder reaches of Kynne. In turn, they built cities of stone and ice, creating art and taking primitive races under their wing. The For
Many a nation has risen on Kynne, but few have the reputation like the Open Kingdoms. Founded on the southern half of the contient of Geywin, these nations have had a long standing alliance forged by years of trade and amicable rulers. A person from one of the kingdoms is free to travel(with proper papers) to either of the others without fear of being imprisoned for border corssing or face heafty travel fees. There is also the agreement of religious freedom within the open kingdoms, which allows for any god to be worshipped freely. The open kingdoms consist an alliance of three large nations and several smaller soveignities.

Ingeria:
Motto: Under the Sacred Sun (Dragonic: Suul kelkiv ishin)
Flag: A white field with an orange slant in the middle
Capitol: Whitewall, The River Plains
Major ethnic groups: Inger, Rion, Basin Shepherds, and the Karadoorans
Goverment:Monarchy

A land of river valleys and rugged hills, Ingeria stands as an imposing presence in the area. Following the sun goddess, Suunli, the people of Ingeria work towards making their homeland prosper. The nation is a fairly large one and a wide variety of enviroments within its borders. The western shore is dominated by the thick Lestrall Forest while the northern shore is mostly flat plains. The Lestrall region also contains the Rion, a people cultrally distinct from the people of the River Plains. The Rion are an interesting folk who believe that the Grand Spirit permeates everything. The culture of the Rion is known for it's reverence of nature, percussive music, and strong oral tradition. The peoples of the Rion and Inger have clashed for decades becuase of cultural differences.

Heading eastward, the Spiritbound mountains and the Marble mountains run the course of Ingeria. The mountains are well known for their marble mines, In the center lies the provinces of the River Plains, the Draigon Hills, and Hillcheed. These areas hold most the population and contains mostly farmland and forests. At the heart of the River Plains is Lake Hestros and the capitol city of Whitewall. A center of trade and commerce, Whitewall is often considered one of the finest cities in all of southern Geywin. The city also has the Castle Sun's Gift, which houses the good King Dessern and his wife, Queen Shokii. Heading south, there is the area know as Karadoora. This province is known for the strange and superstitious Karadoorans, who believe that the end is nigh and everyone should just celebrate the moment. Overall, the kingdom of Ingeria serves as the heartland of commerce on Geywin.

So this has been my big project for a while now. I've been working on this fantasy world for the better part of a year and a half. I'm still working on the details for each country, but feel free to ask if you have any questions. Anyway, the map was drawn and colored traditionaly while the lettering was done in photoshop. I was just going to leave the edges as the oceans, but I felt it needed some texture in the background.

I have a story in the works for this map. It revolves around a guardsman, Brill, living in the Ingerian city of Whitewall. He finds a downed alien spaceship(not kidding) and the strange slime people within(still not kidding). It basically would follow Brill was he explores the Open Kingdoms to find answers to the mysteries of the past.
