a raven? i've heard that they are pretty smart birds and that they are also able to mimic human speech, i also heard that they make very messy pets, one person mentioned that if you're not careful they can become mini hurricanes.

Yes, he is a raven. They are incredibly labor intensive, so they very rarely make a good pet unless the handler knows what they are doing. Here in the us, native species of corvids, like this bird, are illegal to own as a pet. Edgar here can say about 15 or 20 words.

not an easy pet for sure, unless the individual bird happens to be a "calm" one, i've heard that it's legal to have certain hybrid ravens in US, not sure if that's true.

As long as it doesn't contain any amount of Corvid native to the US, it is legal in most states without permits. There are a few people breeding corvids from africa.

i've heard about a person who managed to "hunt" with one of those, apparently the raven was more like a flying dog rather than a falconry bird on the hunt, it was said that the raven hunted for fun and didn't need to be hungry, i'm not sure if this is true but i don't think that it's impossible either.

They aren't true hunters by nature, more scavengers and opportunists. They spend more of their time occupying their incredible brain than just worrying about their next meal. Food motivation works well with them, but they are mentally motivated entirely different from raptors. While they can pack a powerful punch, they are not designed to catch and kill the same sort of prey most falconry birds do on a regular basis, making them entirely inappropriate as a falconry bird. They are absolutely trainable and very rewarding to work with though

well aparently the raven didnt kill anything, it just made easier to hunt by doing something similar to dogs, theyre pretty big birds but the interesting part about them is their intelligence, not every bird uses traffic lights to crack nuts.

He is a great bird, but he can be incredibly hard to photograph. He always come to the front of his chamber, right against the fence, when I try to take photos.

Perhaps he just wants to be closer to you...

I have a few birds that I swear love me,
they sit at my feet or on my table...

Edgar may indeed have a fondness for you

Oh yes, he definitely does. I have spent almost a year straight with him, interacting with him every day. He is my pal

I have heard people actually say " dumb animals ", but have had a few fall for me
and they are highly intelligent and emotional many times...We just have to learn
how to read their faces and eyes...

Unfortunately alot of people do not take the time to do so....I applaud you your patience and
love for him and the other birds..

There is a lot that most people miss in these creatures. Body language and a little bit of observation goes a long way in helping to understand them, but most people do not care. I could not imagine my live without them.

Because I am an animal and bird lover, I did by chance do a logistics check
on how many people actually love or enjoy animals, and I found that 60 percent
of humans love animals, and the rest of the population could not care less...

Hooray for us who love animals, I also could not imagine my life without them...

I love ravens. Most intelligent birds. There's a few living in the forest near the village I live in, my father and me always stop whatever we are doing when they fly high above us, so we can watch them passing by, high on the sky.

They are incredible birds. This one is one of my best buddies, I have grown very close to him in the short time he has been with us.

What a handsome boy.  Does he do any mimicry?  CRC used to have one that could perfectly imitate a Harris Hawk.

He can say about a dozen words pretty well, and like to make a clucking sound and a kissey sound. He doesn't like to do them in front of anyone though, so it is a struggle to get to hear him sometimes. I have only had him say any words clearly to me about twice.
