This is one of our newest birds. He is a Black Hawk-Eagle (aka Tyrant Hawk-Eagle). He is currently in training, and is very smart and VERY handsome!

He weighs around two and half pounds. He stands about one and half to two feet tall, but his tail is very long and makes him look taller.

I took this photo on his first day with us, so he was pretty alarmed by everything and still trying to adjust. He tends to put those feathers up when he is alert, and he will put them down suddenly if he gets scared or startled.Β
