this is so beautiful and real looking and the fact that it's done in oil only adds to how amazed and impressed i am. I love the colours and how vibrant and real everything is.

I had to fave this earlier today when I surfed in from a random favorite list. Your rendering, color choices, attention to detail, composition, well, they're flat spectacular. I'm surprised I can type while having to flick my dropped jaw periodically out of the way.

I hope your jaw-dropping rectified itself! Thank you so much for your comments. I've just checked out your gallery, and your abstract pieces are particularily original and interesting. Keep up the good work!

Yes, it retracted eventually; the elastic's not quite gone. Thanks for the visit and the kind words.
Nice website! I also collect books on murals and faux surface techniques-- going to have to see if I can spot you in there.

I see what you mean by combining birds. the one on the ground looks like a victoria crowned pigeon mixed with a lyre bird. the ones in the trees resemble turacos and birds of paradise. very bright!

You got that about right. Like your photos. One piece of advice...when Monty gets to be 5 + feet long NEVER be alone with him.
