As for the picture... It looks so great as a whole! The background lightings in combination with the characters and their "falling movement"... Then the expressions and Cloud's tears, all being kind of rounded up with the feathers flying away, it all creates a very sad atmosphere!

Yeah I know as much as they having a strong relationship towards each other, Zack dies and Cloud thus obtains the Buster Sword, but I don't know it much closer...
So the sad atmosphere fits perfectly, I see why you wanted to achieve it
