So I've been away for a little while, but I've been playing around with some colourizing while at work.This WIP is mostly for my own reference, but I thought some of you might find it interesting/useful.

efleck can I ask what program you used to colourise? I'm practising drawing a lot using charcoal - and have tried colouring using a variety of programs - but can't find one that suits me (thanks in advance!)

Sure, I actually use photoshop, though it is less about the program and more about tons of layers. I usually select a chunk (like Shep's hair in this image) and then I go to Hue/Saturation, select colourize layer, and then I move the hue bar until it's close to what I want. I will often do that several times, changing the opacity of the layer and then putting another semi transparent layer on top.
Once you get big chunks of colour in, then you can erase all the overlapping bits on the edges before adding all the little extra things - like adding pinks to fleshy spots on Shep's ear, or yellowish highlights to her hair.
That was maybe more information than you were looking for, lol. To sum it up, it's all about lots of layers.
