Hey Pat,

Once again, great composition and I can never get enough of the DOF of those nice lenses you have! I'm so jealous. I decided however that when the day comes for me to invest in a "portrait lens" I'm going to stick with getting only the 60mm f/2.8, and I'll let the 85mm f/1.8 slide. I've rented the 85mm twice now and I just don't like the close-focusing limitation. But with the 60mm, I'll never have this limitation... I dunno, it's just my kind of style. In your mind, take this photo and crop out everything except a loose, semi-pano image of just her eyes, and that is my kind of style. The only question now is, how close can that Sigma 30mm focus?

And again, I'm bordering on being bothered by the B&W conversion in this case. It just renders a sort of grimey style that is akin to Dorthea Lange photos in the 1930's. (That's a BIG compliment, if taken correctly) I guess this is your desired result though so I'll let you continue. Your style is awesome!

I think the 60mm will serve you well as a portrait lens. Like you said when I was first deciding to buy it (remember all that discussion? heh), it's extra nice because it doubles as both a portrait and macro lens. Yes, I have also noticed the close-focusing limitation with the 85mm. It's a pain in the butt sometimes. I have yet to really try with the 30mm.

Yes, I think this conversion type is settling in nicely with my taste. I can see your point though...in some parts it can be a little jarring. Anyhow, thanks for the comment!
