Description The Forgotten

On the outside looking in,
I see a shadow, brightly dim,
with careful footprints, taped with lines,
a spot where sunlight never shines.
Where memories flash, then fade away.
Where sounds of fury, splash and stray.
Where I reach out, but you are gone,
Where winds and earthquake tarry long.
Dreams of fossils, broken, rotten,
parts of unknown, dark forgotten.

The thing i like about this piece is that it can apply to all over the world - there will be park benches like this in parks in Australia, New Zealand, France, China, Japan ... everyone's seen something like this, but they've never really stopped to think about it. You took a slice of time and handed it to us, therefore forcing us to think.
When I look at it, I think about the fact that i never seem to take time out to just sit and think any longer, life's so rushed now that i can't find that precious time. I've forgotten what it's like to just sit under a tree and think about life and everything else. It reminds me there's that little place in my mind where i can go and sit and think, and there'll be a tree to shelter me from the stupid parts of the world - to stop the bad thoughts coming in.

Thanks for reminding me.

I think I need a day to spend at a place similar to this, and just sit and think. It just looks like one of those places where you'd see someone just sitting there alone, staring off into space with either a lot of thoughts rushing around their head or none at all. Or a couple holding hands or something. Heh. Awww.

I do quite like this shot though. The colours are wonderful. Love the green of the grass. Makes me think "is the grass greener on the other side?" Not sure what the other side is though, so I guess that question can't be answered. I like the leaves on the tree. That green is odd and stands out most to me, even against the bright green grass. I'm trying to think of something that colour green to compare it to, but I can't. It's different, thats all.

The little bit of sunlight filtering through onto the tree is lovely. Makes it look warm. The composition of this shot is wonderful. It looks as if you were standing a fair bit away from it and up a bit, I can't really say, but I think you took this on a great angle and from a nice distance away to be able to fit in the tree and bench quite nicely. Mmm. Lovely.

omg i love this piece. and the words fit so well. i have conflicting feelings when i look at it though. on the one hand i sense isolation...sadness. but on the other i have this overwhelming urge to sit there and relax and reflect on the day because of the comfort and safety that such a secluded spot might offer. beautiful piece.

Most people tend to sway towards one general focus in their photography, but you tend to have a greater variety in your object of interest. It's not just trees, people, or buildings. I think that's what capitvates many people here, and you deserve all the praise you've received and more. It's hard to resist your photos let alone the stories and poems that you apply to make the ensemble that much more enjoyable.

This definitely displays the coming of spring as the leaves from fall and winter subtly fade away. The bench reminds me of the ideal picnic that's just waiting for anyone willing to spare the time. Another job well done. You should try your hand at night photography sometime. I'd really enjoy seeing some photos of that nature from you.

beautiful shot. I thought it was taken at night with a flash until i saw a bit of blue sky through the trees I really like the bright colours you've been able to get and do i see a bit of a glow? I think that adds to the poetic/dreamy kind of feel that this shot has. Your description is really good too
