Description
*This is the most difficult macro shot i have ever taken due to the bug's small size, high speed and unpredictable movements! Please forgive me if I can't reply to all your messages but I'd like to thank you all in advance who have added my images to their favorites, my pages to their watch and for all your wonderful compliments. It's a big encouragement, it means so much for me and I truly appreciate it
special thanks to aksdareflection for suggesting it and ^dandelgrosso for featuring it as my first DD

Great shot! Did you follow it around with your lens or did you point at one spot and click when it came by? Just curios....

hi this is a hover fly (guess why it is named like that), feeding on honey adn polen, the larvae are predacious. In scientific Diptera: Syrphidae
They are common and wide spread, you see them often but not photographed like that! Congraulations!

Like the suggestor said, this is almost an impossible shot. The fact that you got it sharp & up close is pretty amazing! Brilliant shot. Furthermore, you won't hear me say often that I think an insect is cute... but for this one I'll make one exception.

I love the depth of field, makes that little guy pop, and the colors are so subtle. Amazing!

i do believe that is what my sis and i call a "zig-zag fly" (we have odd names for things, like the bugs that some how always seem to get in the house in the summer, we call em "dizzy flies" cause they go in circles)
tell me, did it hoover and when it moved it was very quick and jerky and seem to move in almost angular motions as if making the shape of a square as it moved?
