Description
this is the camera i used to create the confined spaces series. so far, that is all i have used this camera for. i had a few questions asked about how this camera was constructed so i thought i'd just upload a photo of it to my scraps.the first thing i did was drill a hole in the lid of the box where i would later tape in one of the many pinholes ive made from brass shim. i then lined the inside with black electrical tape to remove any possible chance for a lightleak. as you can see theres a lot of tape where the lid closes...that makes it really hard for me to open it cause the tape is so thick...but it also ensures that no light will spill in there. after i had it all taped up i taped my brass shim pinhole to the outside of the box (doing my best to make sure it's as centered as possible. i took some extra tape and covered the hole so that i could carry it around loaded an not worry about light getting in through the hole.
and thats about it. pretty simple. then it was lots of experimenting to see what kind of exposure it needed. thats the hard part!

sweet. i know nothing about camera making yet, since i've never had a photo class...but i can't wait to learn.
so cool to see how you did this. you should put a link (if you haven't already) on your dev so people can see this.

Totally awesome! And at the back of the box, opposed to the hole, you put the film or something? Did you use special film or something for that? Thanks a lot for showing this.

i just used 4x5 sheet film, so its about the size of the camera itself.
