trams are a big thing in Belgium, but some stations look a bit lost

Wow, this is grungy. It's a great shot - a lot of geometry and a few splashes of bright color popping out from all the muddy tones. Is this Belgium?

They will hate me for that. But it is an actual living metro station in Charleroi. And - the escalator worked perfectly well and there was no rubbish lying around. Otherwise it seemed to be neglected in a most surprising way.

Oh that's interesting. So it's old and tired but not - um - actively decaying!

Not even old, I would say. It seems that they had a vey ambitious project with this metro line - well maybe 20 years ago. And it seems that the underground part was never finished. When you browse the true urbex community about Charleroi you find entries about ghost underground stations. but my time was too short to look for them. also i presume that it probably is not as easy to get access as maybe a few years earlier ....

That's fascinating - traces of things that were planned but not completed. And yes, getting access might involve trying to explain oneself to some authority figure who turned up - even if it were physically possible.

In that case I was less worrying about an authority figure, but rather the opposite

I was actually invited by a lady to take photographs of her in her room. But I suspected that she had other business in mind
