Well if this is your first time then I have to say you did an amazing job for a first try. The picture looks amazing, although admittedlyΒ the picture outside of the person does not detail. In fact, it's not really much more aside from shapes. But aside from that, there is literally nothing I can complain about. And in fact its even more impressive that you can get your point across without having to go into such detail. And despite that, I can still make out everything, that little tower at the end that I'm assuming they're going to. The peaks of mountains on the sides and the pathway the character would need to take. Another thing I want to commend about your piece is the detail that you did put on your character. Everything is so visible, from the pockets and straps on the character's backpack to even the little scales on the dragon's body. Overall this is an excellent piece.

That's nice to know my intentions are clear enough that you can imagine something from the picture.

Β Also, you're dead set about the shapes, but the truth is... I'm too slow when it comes to detail -a weakness I'm not correcting that much...- so I focus on some part of the drawing and leave the rest all together to make things less blurry, haha.

Thank you for the feedback!

Wow. I love grayscale art and this piece right here tops all expectations. It is well done, beautiful and mysterious. It has beautiful shading, kinda reminds me of the walking dead with the grayscale, the character is not impossible to see, which is a problem I come across often when I see greyscale art. Now I just wanna know more about our heros.Β Β Where are they going? What place is that off in the distance? Where did the dragon come? Just one minor gripe. The hoodie the character is wearing is strangely in a square shape but that's it. This awesome has made descide to become a watcher!Β

Glad to know it got you wondering.
Rather than a hoodie, it's more of a helmet he's wearing
And thank you!

This is a neat idea, having the main focal point and brightest part of the picture actually be the mountain in the background, with the character being an almost unnoticed foreground element. The grey, blurry tones and and swirling strokes in the sky make this look and feel oppressive, dreary, and downtrodden, which matches the title. Is the character in a hazmat suit, and carrying a tiny dragon? A tiny dragon that is comfortably snuggled to the character? That brings up all sorts of questions about the story here...where did they come from? Where are they going? How do they know each other? Its intriguing and well drawn and is making me picture a whole world leading up to that scene.

Actually, I wanted the duo to be the main focal point -the dragon first then the person carrying it- and lead the eyes toward the mountain. Since I added them last, is seems my intentions fell flat in that regard...

And yes, it's a character in a hazmat suit carrying a dragon -to quote you-. The original title was going to be 'A race against time' but I didn't like the sense of urgency it gave.
Another one would have been 'Sickness' -hence the suit and the dragon having some sort of disease and holes all over its body-. I thought this title to be too obvious and specific so I chose 'A long way to go' in order to be more vague and open to interpretation. It looks like I succeeded in my goal if you came up with your own story.

Thanks for the feedback!

Oh those are holes...I thought they were spots, but I see it now. Explains the dragon being zonked out too. Yea, the grays and the title put a bleak, but not rushed, tone on the whole thing.Β

...would you mind if I wrote the one shot this is inspiring and credited this picture?

I see, I'll think things through more next time.

By all means! I'm curious to see what you came up with.
