minifigs are supposed to represent real people so your mech is supposed to hold a real person
therefore the mech is actually giant (large enough for both your characters to fit in the head) which makes it large enough to punch a reaper in the face!!!!!

i have the same thought process issue with the LDM series....
the little pilots are supposed to be an exoskeleton for robots the size of NR-71 so technically they are lot bigger in real life
