Description So here you have a model you've put time and effort into editing.
you open it up in MMD to test it out....and then this happens.

Part of the hair decides it doesn't want to move.

Okay so I've come across this problem quite a few times when making a model. This problem ususally occurs when you delete off a bone that something was attached to- in my case here, the hair had pigtails with bones in 'em. And becasue I deleted the bones off, this happened.

Feel free to ask questions! but before you do, please read this tutorial first: [link]
this also helps explaing the little * thingy I put in near the end. that slider circled can change how attached the vertices are to the bone.
it's like percentages- 100/bright red is stuck completely, while 50/purple is only half stuck on.

Blue is not stuck on at all.

Omg please excuse my handwriting XDD

EDIT: I'm all for helping people, but this is a TUTORIAL. Not somewhere to post 'pls fix my model for me.' I can't handle all of these requests

I don't mind taking a look at people's models, but if you're asking me to do what is shown in the tutorial, then what's the point of even having this up here? try a few times more before asking me, please.

Yeah, twitches.

And I read that the physics have to cover the whole area that you want to move, and I tried that, but it didn't work. XD
Thanks for trying to help me though.

oh. goodness ;x;'' This tutorial is really for the more minor issues- I'm really not sure what's even going on here;;

And it's not only this certain model, even the models that pmd editor came with and clothes/hair have the same problem .__.
I thought it has something to do with bones but I'm not sure anymoreΒ *dies*

the model's all black? could it be vertices overload? ;0;

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RylandFact In reply to Ekkoberry [2014-04-20 05:28:20 +0000 UTC]

No. I meant when I look at the dots for weighting. They're black and shade to red. None are BLUE.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ekkoberry In reply to RylandFact [2014-04-20 05:58:13 +0000 UTC]

ahhh ok. make sure to select a bone to weight to- If you don't do that, you'll be weighting 100% ( the red) to nothing and I\'m petty sure that can crash the model ;a;/

yeye step 4.

RylandFact In reply to Ekkoberry [2014-04-20 06:52:18 +0000 UTC]

Ok. I got that but now it bends all weird. And I did the 100% to each bone...

was it the entire model that needed re-rigging? this tutorial is for the minor issues, where there are only a few unrigged vertices ;x;

RylandFact In reply to Ekkoberry [2014-04-20 07:55:42 +0000 UTC]

No. Just his lower half. The legs won't stick to the bones and now the static physics are screwed up.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ekkoberry In reply to RylandFact [2014-04-21 09:32:31 +0000 UTC]

if the leg vertices are rigged to the leg bones, it shouldn't mess up like that ;x; I'm sorry, I don't know what to suggest;;

RylandFact In reply to Ekkoberry [2014-04-21 15:21:30 +0000 UTC]

How much should be rigged?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ekkoberry In reply to RylandFact [2014-04-22 06:38:34 +0000 UTC]

Aside from the joints, all the vertices should be rigged to the closest leg bone
the exact rigging depends on the model itself- I'd look at models similar for reference

could you please tell; me how to fix my model? i'm in distress about it. when i load motion data for her, my head floats up and tilts to the side, then doesn't move. the rest of her body moves just fine. please help?

sounds like the head bone isn't connected to the rest of the body ;a;

check the parent/child connection between the head and neck bones

Will this also work for clothes? O: I'm trying to put a long-sleeve shirt on a model, and it fits, but when she starts moving her skin shows through.

I think I read that you're supposed to weight it - is this that?

I'm so stupid when it comes to models. Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ekkoberry In reply to Emo-Flowers [2014-02-06 23:07:31 +0000 UTC]

All vertices are the same- everything's made up of the "dots" so hair/body/clothes are really all the same material, just textured/shaped differently ;v;/

If the skin is showing through clothes, I'd delete the skin under the clothes. If both the skin and clothes are moving with the bone, it's not Β a problem with vertices being rigged, just the fact that both the materials are present so they overlap.Β

Emo-Flowers In reply to Ekkoberry [2014-02-07 16:01:37 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your help! :3 They re both moving - so it is just overlapping.
& thank you for explaining it in a way it's not all mumbo-jumbo.Β Β

I'm having an issue where the vertexes won't rig.

I'm trying to redo the physics on a tie (to improve them) and for some reason the vertexes set on 100 for the first bone won't change. I can change them to zero, but that's it. I tried making the bones the same type as the comparison model I'm using, but the bone type won't change either. It's stuck on the light orange when the comparison model is blue, even though I have the same selections on both models.

I'm at a loss. I was doing excellent until this point ;^;

InvaderMimzi219 In reply to InvaderMimzi219 [2014-01-07 06:51:41 +0000 UTC]

Never mind I solved the issue.

Turns out when bones are connected, if vertexes are shared, they're split between the two bones. Like 90 and 10 or 20 and 80.

>:3Β My model is so pretty now! Now I get to make her hair better >3>
