Description It has come to my attention that some new readers are curious yet totally baffled by this thing called Puck, and may find the prospect of reading through 100+ strips daunting. Therefore, I've created this handy character rundown for the cast.

The comic really only has a four-person (plus extras) cast, but the relationships between those four characters are complicated, so I'm hoping this clarifies some stuff for the confused people out there.

Some may note that I've finally nailed down ages and time frames after much waffling. Seven years have passed since Puck graduated; her degree was three years long. Because she was 621 at the beginning of the strip, she's now 631.

It all makes sense. I think.

EDIT: I bumped up all the characters' weights due to numerous complaints by people who insist that Puck cannot weigh 124 lbs and be 5'8". Even though my wife weighs 124 lbs. and is 5'8". Go fig.

Is it possible Daphne may be part werewolf?

That's a theory floated by some more recent readers.  And I can't prove or disprove that.

So how did Daphne become such a sociopath in the first place?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricGecko In reply to Fansyboots [2018-05-12 01:58:11 +0000 UTC]

It's never been answered.  Maybe genetic?  Maybe learned it on the mean streets?

I am patently bad at world-building.

Have you ever asked anyone for assistance on world building?

Also, what are you good at?

ElectricGecko In reply to Fansyboots [2018-05-12 17:57:32 +0000 UTC]

I'm bad at world-building mainly because I don't value world-building.  I actively dislike it in most contexts and consider it a distraction from narrative.

As for what I'm good at, that's the million dollar question.  Which probably doesn't have an answer.

Am I going to far with calling Daphne a sociopath? If anything she's chaotic neutral on the alignment chart.

If Phoebe were lawful evil like her father her time in any given school would be like this .

Also, courtesy of Monster Musume I not only found how I envision Phoebe's mother (far right) but also a possibility on what species Daphne is (far left).

ElectricGecko In reply to Fansyboots [2018-05-15 02:19:55 +0000 UTC]

Not sure Daphne is quite a sociopath.  She's more just a standard-issue selfish kid who does have feelings for people and is capable of empathy but usually just suppresses it by justifying her actions through the usual means (e.g. "Those dupes are so stupid, they deserved it.")

That one worked.  And yes.  Definitely some resemblances going on.  Though Phoebe's actual mom in the comic is Elizabeth Taylor: www.thehairpin.com/wp-content/…

In my universe, the comic said that she struck a deal with Satan for immortality, but then I later decided that was stupid, so now my new story is that she was actually an immortal being all along.  See?  Whenever I do universe building, I regret it.  I'm better to just never explain anything.

It also means the series would have another centuries old monster girl milf.

Also, here's another like to my idea on Daphne's species.

Yeah, I really need to create a new, updated guide that really simplifies things even further.  It's not a confusing comic, but it sort of looks confusing at first glance.  I need to better address that.

Enh. People are hard on Satan. He's interesting, at the very least! Let's put it this way: were it not for Satan, the Bible would have been a very boring book. So much peace and harmony and no original sin ... BORing.

The-Mirrorball-Man In reply to ElectricGecko [2011-10-12 03:16:27 +0000 UTC]

Despite what the fire & brimstone brigade keeps telling us, the Bible doesn't spend much time talking about Satan.

Caraphae [2011-10-10 11:03:14 +0000 UTC]

Pfft, people have no idea about the variance in body builds. S'why I pay no attention to height-weight charts. My best friend is 6' 4" and weighs about 120. Granted he's built like an articulated skeleton, but still. It can happen!

...I really thought Daphne was older. Poor kid, watching her mom get all dopey and pregnant just as she's personally hitting the worst years of a modern American's life.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricGecko In reply to Caraphae [2011-10-10 12:44:00 +0000 UTC]

6'4" and 120 pounds? Crazy! Well, someone recommended that I look at the BMI charts, and looking at those things, I got ... confused. The chart for guys is simply confusing. According to the chart, the ideal weight of an adult, six foot male is around 160. I've never known ANY guy who is six feet tall who weighs that low.

But from what I've learned, women's weight varies more drastically than guys because guys' bodies are more similar in construction. With women, it all depends on the variation of fat and muscle ratio; muscle weighs a lot, lot more. I know a girl who is quite fit, but she has a strong build. She weighs seventy pounds more than my wife, but you'd never guess that to see them standing next to each other.

As for Daphne's age, her attitude makes her seem older, I guess. She'll be able to survive the craziness fairly well, though. It's like she was forty-five when she four.
