Here's some starting off sewing advice for beginners. I plan to make a few more of these before posting patterns, just to help everyone who may want to give them a try a chance to get up to speed.

For the promised reference links:
If you can get your hands on a copy of this, "The Illustrated Hassle-Free Make Your Own Clothes Book" [link] , it's a gem. It's definitely dated, but is good for a first step in getting over any fears of sewing clothing. Check at used book stores.

The New Complete Guide to Sewing (Readers Digest) [link] ... I have an older version, and it covers things pretty well, especially when it comes to machine use.

Singer also offers a similar paperback guide, but I prefer the Reader's Digest one, personally.

Also, I've seen a ton of great tutorials here on dA, so browse through the artisan crafts tutorials [link] . There are many people out there better than me at illustration, and some things can't be explained well in text and photos. Check the tutorials section in my favorites as well [link] .

Have fun, and let me know if you need help or have questions.
