Description As per usual i am not a fancy tutorial maker. Its pictures, and th basic paint program - sorry but i am SO low tech.

This is a tutorial for a super basic half apron that i figure can be adapted to fit all kinds of stuff besides a table cloth - Skirts, left over jeans, overly loved sheets, etc. Fabric is only limited to what your willing to shred.

The band /ties section is a bit vague but i have offered to resource something for you if you need it. If you're experienced with adding a band to the top of anything then i will not insult you with the "duahs" of the process. maybe this will inspire others to look at their under-worn, but overly loved skirts and see a whole NEW reason to love them and use them (and you can make one for your mom, BFF, sister, etc to match yours)

if i were to make something like this from a bedskirt, how should i best go about it, measurements-wise?

That is a very good question. First, as a thought, i would cut the ruffle off the rest of it (save those scraps) with at least a 8-10 inchs into the "waste" fabric to keep the ruffle ruffled instead of pulling it apart. The measurements ..hummm... I like my aprons to cover some of my back side when i can get it and a bed/dust ruffle has a ton of possibilities for that. Measure with a soft tape around your hips leaving the desired gap in the back. Then play around with the layers, trim off excess waste material, sew the top of the layers, create and sew on the tie casing (think over sized double fold bias tape)and complete the apron. Did that help or should i try again.

i wish mine were so easy. besides the tribble DNA samples (hair) i get puncture wounds, chewed up ribbon ends, thread spools who have been batted to death and found when i move under various furniture, and the lil basti - rd knocks crap over so the dogs can help in the demolition of my strange things.
