Description Emerald Current

Mossman Gorge, Daintree National Rainforest Park, Tropical Queensland

Mossman Gorge really is an amazing and peaceful place - what you see here is what it looks like in real life. The river tumbles its way over and around large granite boulders that line the gorge, and crystal clear waters reflect the surrounding tropical rainforest, producing the intense saturation of colours in the water

Shooting here proved to be extremely difficult, as the conditions were pretty extreme - the rain kept hitting the lens and camera, humidity was about at 70% which kept fogging up the lens, it was close to 40 degrees celcius (104 Fahrenheit) and the lighting conditions changed every few minutes with the fast moving rain clouds exposing and hiding the sun. But i managed to get quite a few good shots. This is one of them.

This is nice as well. Only thing that bothers me is the biggest rock is right there in the middle. Otherwise, looks great

To reiterate what everyone else has said... what an amazing photo! I've never seen water look like that. At first glance I thought it was just moss because it has such a furry quality somehow. The colour is just stunning. It seems your hard work battling the elements payed off.

Very nice shot! Sounds like a very frustrating location for taking photos. I can relate to that, but I've never been in conditions quite like those! Did you have any filters on the lens?

to make that a bit clearer .. i mean in the last month i actually started doing manual shots, i more often use the manual control now, rather than any presets at all. but i still dont really know what im doing .. ima look up ISO speed right now .. im not sure exactly how that works..

Fog on lense?! I hate that !
I have to ask my friend, I just have to. How long of a shutter do you have here?
It dosen't seem to be much, but I think that this is best.
The long shutter would have really ruined the photo I think, because the lack of a long exposure makes for a very calm and serene feel in the water, dont' you think?
Great vivid colours too, the green colours are just wonderful !
Gosh !
Why do you have such lovely work!?

fantastic vivid greens donald. besides the smoothing silky green water catching my eye. i really enjoyed the contrast between the water and the rocks that are peeking up above it. my eyes really stepped right on with the rocks through the image. youve also achieved some great sharpness and detail. great shot donald.
