Description I forgot I had put this together already.

I broke down and brought some super sculpty the other day because I haven’t sculpted in a good few years now, and I’ve seen some great things down with this material, so I wanted to try it. Unfortunately it seems you don’t get a lot of clay for your money so I wanted to make my first tests as small as possible.

These are tiny, as you can see with them next to that penny. Or for those not familiar with our currency (I know it never helps me when someone sticks something next to a dollar) about 1.5 cm tall. I forgot to photo the Robin, but they aren’t the best photos anyway. =/ The unfinished bird is obviously bigger and was going to be a gift for my mum on her birthday before thumb related injuries took place. It’s currently sat next to me. Mocking me with it’s “come on and finish the other side! Only one wing to go!”

The cat is made up, but the others are a supposed to be a Robin, Blue Macaw and male Bee Hummingbird (actual size!). I’ll leave you to work out which is which.

I hope I can finish the Hummingbird soon.

The hummingbird looks stunning even un-painted!

Thank you! It looks even better now that it's almost finished (There's just the one part of the wing that I can't do because I can't seem to get it into the right position without my other hand. ><). Can't wait to finish it.

These are amazing, ESPECIALLY for your very first try! Do you mold them with a special tool? You might have inspired me on to try this, also XD

Thank you! These were actually all done with the tip of my 0.3 mechanical pencil because I couldn't find my moulding tools, so special tools are definitely not required. I did eventually find my tools, but after these photos were taken, they're just clay modelling tools, or wax carvers as it says on them, which basically look like a set of miniature pallet knives and various sized points (You could get similar effects using a cocktail stick and metal nail file though I would have thought). To help you with an idea of techniques, the details on the first one (Robin) was created using indentation, pushing the pencil into the ball of clay to shape the feathers. The second (cat) was though addition, adding 'sausage' shaped clay to the hollow tube body (hollow to save clay). The third (parrot) was a mixture of both. The feathers were individually shaped then added to the body (which had foil in the middle this time).
