Description
:/ Don’t know, I was struggling for a title so maybe that’s what the wolf is saying... I can’t imagine that a real wolf would enjoy winter all that much.A present for =Neo-Wolf06 ‘cause he’s 18 tomorrow!
I didn’t know what to draw you, and didn’t want to ruin the surprise by asking… but I thought I couldn’t go wrong with a wolf!
Agh… I spent a lot longer on this then I intended, but it was a great stress reliever after writing essays and drawing nothing but comics for the past few weeks… and I never seem to have time to draw realistically anymore… -__-
I tried out a few different tutorials on it too, (I’ve put them here if you’re interested [link] ) I rushed the sketch and middle fur layer a bit which is probably why he’s not as realistic as I’d hoped
Oh and his markings where inspired by this beauty [link]
I learned a lot from him so I’m happy… ^^
…I also learned that my brother’s chair is very uncomfortable, and his keyboard has fleas… *scratches flea bitten hands*
Hope you like it and Happy Birthday!

this is really nice, I like the way you rendered the fur. And I'm sure that he'd really like this present. Keep it up!

wow, you're wonderful with realism! how do you make the fur looks so soft and, what's the word... flowing? my fur always looks too rough and bleh...

I'm not entirely sure but it looks to me like you need to define the fur more before you add the single hairs. That's what really gives it a fury look.. the single hairs can't do it on their own. You also need to add a lot more single hairs, I know it's time consuming but it's really important that you draw every hair. I like to use a dark shade and a light shade of the colour underneight for this so expect to be changing the shades fairly often. Once that's done it should look realistic, but flat, so you'll need to several layers of low occupancy shading to make it nice and round (hopefully you can do that in the program you use?) I think this wolf had three layers of shade and one layer of light.
Try this tutorial next time your doing realism [link]
Hope that helps! ^^
