Description I've been asked many times how we made our kamael wings. I really didn't plan to write a tutorial EVER, but after 50th questions I gave up.
That’s not the only or best way to make wings, but there were demands, so I comply

Wings made by Desler (ErikDesler ) and me (ElenaLeetah ).
Tutorial made by me

РУССКАЯ ВЕРСИЯ - ЗДЕСЬ

Those are our kamaels, thanks to those costumes this tutorial was created:

Hi! Sorry to throw yet another question into the mix, but I scrolled through all the comments and couldn't quite find the answer- how do you put all the layers together? Do you put some cloth between each bit of foam that needed gluing together?

Sorry if the answer is obvious or it's a dumb question!

ElenaLeetah In reply to NervesofGlass [2013-10-15 10:22:24 +0000 UTC]

I believe I did wrote it in the tutorial o_O The layers glued on the base fabric layer, one above the other. On the both sides.

No problem

Hi there! Your tutorial is phenomenal I was just wondering, is there an alternative material that could be used in replacement of the polyethylene foam? I can't seem to find it anywhere within my price range...

Thank you!

ElenaLeetah In reply to ihaveamooseinmyname [2013-10-07 11:04:22 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

I don't know 'bout the replacment material

You may found the polyetheline foam by several trademarks, we in Russia generally see it under trademark "Izolon"

ElenaLeetah In reply to Heliophobiant [2013-10-02 06:26:53 +0000 UTC]

quick answer: as I've already told several times before - ask ~ErikDesler , it's his know-how.

btw, politeness is love.

Is it possible to make 2 wings for one? I need to make an angel cosplay and I would love to use your design for it but i need 2 wings

Sorry was on my kindle when typing that XD I'm to make Princess Luna from MLP for an upcoming con but never found the right wing tutorial but yours was really perfect. As I was rather terrified of hitting someone with big huge open wings these down soft ones look really ideal

ElenaLeetah In reply to Foogalee [2013-09-29 05:17:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh, now I get the idea

Yep, those tipe of wings willl suit Celistia and yep, they are quite safe to use in the crowd.

GOING TO ATTEMPT MAKING THESE!

on top of making a set of horns, a corset with dress, joint armor pieces, boot spats, and an arm crossbow in 3-4 weeks

A bit too ambitious? (considering I'm in college full-time and work 20 hours a week)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElenaLeetah In reply to SamanthaMeyer [2013-09-25 04:28:50 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it's a normal occurrence to me (considering I'm working full-time + after-hours, got a child in 1st grade of school and other obligations).

Good luck, though! I've mentioned we made those wings in 12 hours, right? I believe now that we tested all our ideas and made all possible mistakes, we'd make in half this time at least, probably faster, if we could focus properly.

Would you suggest lows or home depo? And about how much did it cost you to do this? As for the harness, I couldn't really see who it was to look at for that..?

These wings look really beautiful. Any suggestions where I can find Polyetheline(Isolon) foam to purchase? I sort of live in the middle of nowhere so its hard to find craft like shops.

Home Depot has it for $0.10 per square foot

It's not from craft shop, it's from general DYI store. It HAS to be even in the middle of nowhere

im guessing it would be fairly easy to damage the feathers right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElenaLeetah In reply to Tomboyshapeshifter [2013-09-11 04:50:40 +0000 UTC]

Wrong. We haven't managed to damage them during numerous sword-fights, transportation to the other city and photoshoots on the rocks in the wilderness.

Well, they are losing paint rapidly, but that's all.
