Description
A requested picture of Rayek from Elfquest - who's name means "child of the rocks". For some reason, he looks a bit like a native American in this pic... Artistic liberty, how we love you
Oh, and I haven't drawn Rayek for like 10 years, so if I've made any horrible mistakes... let me know so they can be fixed!!

Man, I'd forgotten how much I love this image! I think I saw it over on the Scrolls of Colors a long time ago, but it's still as great as the first time I saw it. Love the glow of the colors and seeign a calm expression on Rayek's face for once

Oh,very nice to see the most interesting and noble character of EQ again. (Never enough art with him but I guess Manga told you that already.) Mesmerizing look as always. Slightly melancholic but not too much. I like it a lot.

*glomp* Holy flaming carrot chips this is awesome! I love it! It's gorgeous. Wendy always intended for the Sun Folk to have a little Native American (I think specifically Aztec-ish) vibe to them and this reminds me strongly of that pastel head-shot she did of Rayek back in the 80's. In fact, I once showed that portrait to a friend of mine who said "Wow, that's one weird-looking chick," so if you're getting anything wrong, it's the same wrong that Wendy did!

I was just thinking that the calm, almost serene look he's wearing makes him look very much like Venka.

And by the way.. I really am quite bad at drawing males in general... they come out all to feminine, a result of reading to much elfquest and manga. I had to struggle with this one as well; Rayek initially looked like a transvestite version of himself
