i think its hard to judge pieces of pottery in pictures to a certain extent because when you hold them and see them you can see the craftsman ship better... i do like this piece. mostly because i love the designing you do with that swirly technique. and i like the contrast of the white swirls on the dark glaze.

yea you're right, craftmanship-wise this looks better in the photo than it actually is. as far as the aesthetics go though I like my other carved pieces better in the design.

I don't know if that worked because I don't know how to do smiley's on deviantart. My professor bought one of my smaller carved pieces like this so I think I'm on the right track. be more critical though if you can be, not just of this but in general. I don't get much critique good or bad.
