Quetzalcoatl does not have wings, only feathers. Why almost everybody does that???
But the art it's pretty darn awesome and epic and the colours, I also like Godzilla a lot.
Sorry for the bitchin' but as a Mexican I swear every time someone draws Quetzalcoatl with wings I die inside of me.

Is a problem of context. I am living in Mexico for 7 years and are very interested in the legends with proper documentation,( I made many images for textbooks and educational context very well supported before) but this picture has a... very diferent context ; Fiction, fun, character design applied to fantasy scene.....and my personal interpretation about a cool battle in a world coherent with Godzilla. Regards!

Thats my point, actually dont have sense ask more ; for example, In Star Wars the battle ships, should have invisible lasers beams, based on real optical physics, but is Space Opera so is not a problem. Many people with love for the culture we are immersed in this world of fantasy and consumption, and have had the same conflict, but ultimately is a success when we balance both worlds, thank you very much for your appreciation and comments.

I still don't get why they insist on putting wings on every Quetzecoatal out there. Hell, I'm not entirly sure why he's called such! I know ol' Q went away on a raft made of serpents, but I don't think they particularly mentioned wings much. Hell, he went to the underworld once and one of his spirit-animals was a dog.

Quetzalcoatl means feathered serpent, so that's more than likely why.

I know that. Just about every mythology book tells you that. Doesn't much explain wings, though. I mean, bats and various insects have wings, and they aren't depicted with feathers.

Despite appreciating the fantastic, I tend to be a bit of a stickler when it comes to taking from the real world. I tried drawing an Islamic dragon named Thuban, of which I was almost certain there was one, and couldn't find any references. Always that bloody star. Drove me nuts and what I got wasn't very Islamic-Dragon-y.
And I'm still driven nuts by serpents with birdy wings instead of feathered serpents. Just my stickleryness.
