Dear Ruler of Lanarth,

Lanarth has been in need of changing to fit the current galaxy for a long time. Instead of a king, the ruler of Lanarth is now elected. Instead of coming from the royal lines, the people get to choose out of the bacteria that is politics. It was my job, back before this change, to protect the king with my life, and to put his life and Lanarth above my own. It is only someone who is raised like the nobles were, that can truly understand why Lanarth is the way it is. True, you can take classes about this wonderful planet and even feel a connection, but you can't understand the true life of this planet. For no class can teach you the Spirit of Lanarth. And the Spirit of Lanarth is who the real ruler of Lanarth is. But let me try to explain the burden you have now taken upon yourself.

Long ago, after Lanarth had stopped forming, the Spirit of Lanarth came to be. Through countless millennia, the people of Lanarth could feel it and control it, to a point. There the birth of magic started. While each Lanarthian could do magic, only a select few could control magic with expert precision. These people came to be known as Field Symbiots, and protected Lanarth with all their might, which is the greatest power the galaxy has ever seen. Their system of protection was much more secure than any technological wonder you can make up today.

After many years the Field Symbiots could no longer keep order and so decided on the creation of a king. This decision was debated for many months before they found the first king. Not wanting to make a mistake, all of them prayed to the Spirit of Lanarth to tell them if they had made the correct decision. The Spirit of Lanarth approved, and the king ruled for many years, helping to keep peace on Lanarth. The Field Symbiots protected the king as best they could, but never forgot the Spirit of Lanarth.

After many kings came and went, the Field Symbiots decided they needed a special Field Symbiot to protect the king. This Field Symbiot would put the life of the king above all else, even above the rest of Lanarth. Acting always as the king commanded and never harming him. This Field Symbiot was given a special title: Shanark. The first Shanark's name was kept secret; the others that followed him also kept that tradition.

I feel that the world has changed too much. Now the Shanark is also elected, like you were, and none of the extreme dedication is used to elect him. Now the Field Symbiots watch in horror as you take the highest of their ranks and have him elected by commoners; in effect removing the Shanark from the Field Symbiots (they have now refused to vote in the elections for the Shanark and all are refusing to become candidates). I will not say commoners are dense, but they cannot sense the Spirit of Lanarth as we do. They cannot use that connection to make sure of their decision. And, from what I've heard, the new Shanark has no respect for the common man. Just because the Shanark protected the king DID NOT mean he forgot to give respect to the people. I am very ashamed at what my former position has become. The Shanark was supposed to be connected intensely to the Spirit of Shanark and the Field Symbiots.

I am the true Shanark and I have not forgotten my vows. The Field Symbiots will disconnect from the government of Lanarth and protect the people. I will be watching you closely, no friend of yours since you funded the war that dishonored the last king. Unlike all of the other former officials, my identity was never revealed and I was known only to the king. You do not know who I am, and have no way to track me. I will make a deal with you, though I feel that respect should not be given to you: I will protect you and help you with your problems as long as you make Lanarth your first concern. The nanosecond you go against Lanarth, a rebellion will start and the Spirit of Lanarth will be avenged.
