I WISH I could just say that and be all cool, but I can't.
SPOILERS FOR INHERITANCE!
So, because I was bugged off that they didn't even KISS, I made them. Because I can draw and pretty much do whatever I want. (They also shed the tears they held back!!!!)
You can take this anyway. Either Arya stays with Eragon or they still part ways. BUT at least they kissed and we GET SOMETHING.
Not that I'm discounting the true name exchange... That was nice and I LOVED it. I just kinda waited...for THIS. And it never happened ;-;
Like, all I needed was a kiss, and Eragon leaving Alagaesia forever without Arya would have been less....heartbreaking?
And I want none of you "This didn't happen" losers. Obviously, thanks tips.
And yes, I still liked the ending.
And YES, Eragon is like eating her. Look at those tongues guys. None of that sweet kissing nonsense, they're going all out.
Would you have it any other way? ....Besides them doing the nasty. I'm sorry, young viewers who I may traumatize, but I regret nothing. You should all know this by now.

I just don't get it and I have to say that I am angry with Arya...
She knows that Eragon loves her and she knows that he suffers. It would have been just fair to make a choice. You love or you don't love, it's as simple as that. That... hesitation is annoying...
And yeah, it's kinda sad that Eragon ends up as a virgin. Mh... XD Poor boy.

She should have gone with them, but her character was forced to become Queen...despite the entire series pretty much saying that she never wanted to/she wanted to ferry the eggs.
If anything, her hesitation is understandable. Elves take things slow, for them it is foolish to run into something:/ That being said, Arya isn't like other elves, so if she really wanted to, she could have returned his feelings:/

But, as also for Nasuada, it shows what is important for them and I think it would be fair to say: okay, that's how it is, that's what I want to do and we have no future.
They act like there is no choice and I think that's not right. There was a choice and both decided against their love. But Eragon did not really understand it and Arya still gives him hope and I think that is unfair. I hope you understand what I mean. I think it would be simpler for Eragon if she just said: no.
I think this is one of the reasons I never liked the elves. I can understand that they act differently, for that they live longer than humans and stuff. But I think that they are also kind of... arrogant and unable to make descisions. And, as for 'Inheritance' itself, I think that they are not as complicated as they think they are... -.- (They only needed weeks to vote for a new queen... eh...)
Of course it's understandable! I also understand Nasuada! But again, if they really wanted, they could both get their relationships, just like you said. But they didn't want to.
(Okay, there were other problems with Murtagh... )

Yes, a "yes" or "no" is a lot easier than a "maybe, goodbye!"
It's just history that isn't resolved. I know how that feels and it sucks because it's harder to get over. You can't ever really move on due to doubt/confusion. Like you said, "maybe" is a lot harder for Eragon. BUT, it might not be. It wasn't a "no" like before, so she's slowly moving towards his feelings, so he gets some hope. Besides, they totally get together later. (This is my hope)
And yes, I know. I don't think I've made a virgin Eragon joke yet...sadly. I'll probably use one in my next Eragon piece

It isn't the perfect solution. And it doesn't say that it is a "No" forever. But she knows Eragon and, like you said, it would have been easier for him.
Mh, yeah... but if you think about how long THAT took... meh... poor Eragon (did I really say that?!).

When he was about to kill the king, he could have died, so he should have kissed her. Okay, she did the whole "Just because we gonna die it doesn't mean we have to act stupid." Then, after he killed the king, hooray, he lived! He should have kissed her then. And even later, when they exchanged names, why the heck didn't he act? He left it for the last moment and ended up losing the girl!
