Description

She watched the sun beginning to break through the darkness of the night, bringing with it a feeling of warmth to her dark pelt. The surroundings, once dark and dull, now began to glow; the flower's full colours were awakening with the new coming dawn, and the spring grass followed suit as their slumber ended.
Something about it all brought Mpingo a feeling of odd peace.
One upon a time, she looked at the environment with a scoff and a simple glance. She had too much work to do, and didn't have time to admire the beauty of the world around her, so never did. Now, she wondered how she could miss such a simple, yet thoughful display. Granted, she had her paws tied, as she was busy trying to rule a pride she had only been a General for, but she seemed to have missed the idea that she should sit back and relax once in a while.
Urbi would be so proud of her.

Her thoughts were suddenly stopped as the steady chorus of soft noise of paws rustling the grass began to approach. She turned to see the approaching members of her pride, gave them nods as they bowed, stood straight and gave reports. Apart from the odd rogue, there was nothing new, so she sent them on their way to bed, deciding to stay back to stare at the rising sun once more.
Eventually, she began to climb down when she heard a loud "Ma'am!".
She turned, looking over her shoulder to see the golden lioness sprinting towards her. Marumaru, her name was, and Mpingo knew she would never mix her up with another. Maru was one of the rare bright pelted lions who came from Damu, a pride known for their dark pelts.
Where as she was normal from the shoulders to the top of her body, it being a simple golden pelt with white markings, her back and rear legs were dark, almost black, with grey lines recklessly lining her with abandonment. A unique lioness, although surprisingly blended into the background.

Mpingo waited for her to jump onto the rock, remaining in patient silence as she panted and coughed. She knew from first paw experience what it was like to speak after running, so she did not rush her.
After a few minutes of catching her breath, Maru sat up straight, her face serious now. "Ma'am. There was a lioness at one of the borders."
"Yes?"
"She sought you."
Mpingo's frown deepened to one of confusion. "Excuse me?"
"She wanted to speak to you, but I did not know if I should walk off to find you. I was alone on patrol. I did say I could pass a message to you, but she said she would only say a bit. Said she wanted to speak to you specifically."
The darker lioness's tail twitch, encouraging the other lioness to continue after she let the information digest.
"There is a new pride that has moved into the area. She was a part of them. Their leader seeked...Well, apparently he seeks audience...with you."

Silence filled the warming air as the two stared at each other. The wind began to move their fur, the greenery around them whispering, filling the quiet area.
"...Oh really?" was all that came out of her mouth, after the tense moments.
Marumaru nodded. "She will return tonight. Sadly she disappeared before I could ask for much else."

"Thank you for informing me." Mpingo let out a deep breath, her eyes flicking over to the empty space before her. She let it all wash over her before she spoke again.
"I think I will see this female tonight. Go and rest, Maru. You've done well."

Maru bowed her head. "If I may be so bold, ma'am, are you sure?"
"I am. But first, I must...go and speak to someone. Head home."
With a dismissive nod and a small flick of her tail, Mpingo finished jumping off of the platform and began her slow and thought filled journey to her next location.

To the Hyena's.

I've been missing writing! I honestly wanted to do some idly writing, although I find myself struggling to express scenes without repeating. I should follow my old teachers advice of 'get a dictionary, find the word, and find other meanings.'

Although there's google now so rip that teacher-

Some notes;

* This is probably going to be continued. Although wont be a full story. Just an interesting idea.
* Urbi is a character from Mpingo's past and generally a driving force which changed her from a miserable General turned leader with no clue what to do, to a true Leader. She has a design, funnily enough though it is on Tumblr and currently under flagged for...some reason xD I guess lions are too much for Tumblr.
* Marumaru is named for her unique marking. I think it is high contrast but I love it-
*Originally the background was a day setting, then I remembered, Damu activate mostly at night! So it was changed to a sunrise. Dont stare at the background xD
*Saying that, the next one will be based in the day.
*Dajan will be featured, just I wanted this first part to focus on Ping-
*I'll draw a full body of Maru one day because of course I must-
