Description
(2020), 6.5x10.5", Prismacolor pencils and white gel pen on grey paper.
Trying something different to start the new year and ditching my graphite in favor of working a bit in color. I really love the intense purple markings and eccentric shape of this amazing shell. Plus thinking of summer and seaside shell-hunting is a nice way to get out of the winter downs!

How beautiful, Elly! The toned paper adds a lovely softness while letting the hard edges and multiple textures of the shell shine. You should work in color more often!

Thanks so much! I'm actually working on a whole series of shells now, and I must admit playing with color when I'm so used to just shades of grey is fun. Plus Prismacolors are pretty forgiving - until you have saturated the paper to a greasy sheen, and it won't take any more...

Very nice! And the thumbnail even looks like it might have been a photo at first glance.

Looks delicate, I mean for the colors and technics

Thank you! I loved the contrast between the somewhat rough, chalky spines and the delicate porcelain-like interior.

Sure erotic subject. You did it on grey paper, good choice I guess

Thank you! It's so odd to think that it's all hard shell, and yet the colors and organic lines make the shape feel so sensuous. I love the effect of getting white highlights on darker paper. Always makes things pop in a most pleasant way...
