Description
Going back to one of my older pieces and doing some reworks was a great bit of fun so I thought I’d do it again and this time I chose an early personal favorite of mine.

To be honest, I still like this today, sure the lines are a bit wacky and it’s a bit empty on the detail side of things, but it‘s aged better then many of my other works of that time.
Now the most obvious addition to my old piece is the second character. At first I only redid the original image, but then I remembered that I wrote a small story under the image. In it, „Sue“ the drawn character gets an introduction to her SCBA by Sophia, the main character of my story „Masked Desire“, which I was writing back then. At the end of the story Sophia gets geared up, too so I thought „why not incorporate this into the image?“ so here we have her. While in the main story the yellow Scott ProMask is Sophia’s mask, especially in the earlier chapters, here she lend it to Sue for a try on. So when she decided to also gear up, she went for a color matching Auer 3S.

The next addition is quite simple, but as far as I know a first for me. Shoes. I think I have never drawn shoes before, only boots.
Also I‘ve tried to improve Sue’s hair, I really love sidecuts which definitely has nothing to do with Natalie Dormer. ^^
Adding to that kind of „alternative“ look, I’ve also tried to give her some tattoos. I like the idea, not to sure about the execution though.

All in all I am quite happy with the outcome. In my latest works, I’ve been using a thicker pencil for my outlines, which gives the character’s „Archer“ vibes and also makes coloring so much easier. What do you think about it? Also the anime style eyes? Yay or nay? I am undecided, but have to say big eyes do work great with masks. So probably leaning towards using them for the next one again?
