Albino - Dragon Base Coat Modifier
Represented by the genomic letter alb
Albino is a genetic modifier gene found in Elysium's Invasive Dragon Species. Albino is a recessive mutation which causes a total loss of pigment in the dragon. This coat modifier is extra tricky due to the fact that it's not only recessive but also sex-linked trait: meaning it's located on the X chromosome. Because of this, Albino is expressed differently depending on how many copies are inherited and what the sex of the dragon is!

Albino is most commonly expressed in male dragons as they only have 1 X chromosome. So they only need 1 copy of Albino (nalb) to appear albino!
Female dragons however require 2 copies of Albino (albalb) to express the mutation as they have 2 X chromosomes. Females who inherit 1 copy of Albino appear completely normal and are simply Albino Carriers.

Albino Male Dragons: Always nalb
Albino carrier Female Dragons: Always nalb
Albino Female Dragons: Always albalb

Albino dragons are very distinct in their appearance. They are always white if not near white with pink under bellies, skin and wing membranes. Their eyes are ALWAYS red to pink (even Kulos who normally have a set eye color) while their claws become a light beige color.

Albino can sometimes be mistaken for Lecuisim but is easy to recognize due to the total loss of pigment, pink skin and red eyes.
