Reverse Appaloose
Elysium Unicorn Marking
Represented by the genomic letter ra
A recessive trait, Reverse Appaloosa is a patterning effect that covers the body in white hairs while revealing the horse's undercoat as a sort of ‘blanket’. It’s so named as the revealed portion of undercoat is typically where an appaloosa blanket would lay. Reverse Appaloosa was once fairly common in the 'Before Times' but has since all but vanished from the greater unicorn population. However is has survived amongst the Ethereal Unicorns (primarily the Lunar'corns). It is a rare marking that can be expressed in both types of unicorns though expression can sometimes vary.
With Lunar'corns, their crests and head plates are unaffected by the whiting effect of this gene.
Manes and tails are never effected by this gene, even if a white spot happens to touch mane/tail hairs.
