Very nice work. Just a quick question, what's the last texture? Is that the spectural (shiny) map?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

emaciate In reply to Aerindarkwater [2011-06-02 01:12:08 +0000 UTC]

yes its the shinies! and its a little tooo shiny! XD

Aerindarkwater In reply to emaciate [2011-06-02 04:18:19 +0000 UTC]

haha. Interesting, I never added color to my shiny map, I have only done it in greyscale. Does the colored version react differently with colored lighting compared to a greyscale? Or just never thought of it? (Note to self, do an experiment comparing colored and greyscale shiny maps with differnt lights. heehee.)

emaciate In reply to Aerindarkwater [2011-06-02 04:25:20 +0000 UTC]

yes yes! for instance sometimes your color could be really plain black,, but the shiny could be blueish ! looks like people do some metal like this , ^0^ hahaha try is good- only with a sphere-

i didnt map that one here, i gotta say its impressively optimized and well done.. tho im not that good at it, i would suggest you to take a look at ''UVlayout pro''... very helpful little tool to make decent stacked uvs,. if you have hard time with the native tools from your 3d program,., people dont mention about it so much , but unwrapping models can be very time consuming.. if you dont want them to be shitty-- always depends

the-newKid In reply to emaciate [2011-05-19 04:04:28 +0000 UTC]

well i know about unwrapping the uv man tough job indeed, and it is very nicely done too.
well the thing i want to ask about the uv map is that you only unwrap half of the body(face, arms, etc.) and mirror other side? won't the overlapping the uv is a no no for normal map ?

emaciate In reply to the-newKid [2011-05-19 04:52:02 +0000 UTC]

yea. thats an absolute asshole ,, probably gonna have to bake normals with just a half of the high rez- and its annoying- the overlap would just not work-,, the big thing to me,, is its hard to avoid gettin strange seams, have to repair them manually alot,.. paint the neutral normal blue on there,

btw one thing work with overlapping is ambiant occlusion,,,
