Description
Woo thanks very much for the DDAgain that you to *Minato-Kushina for suggesting it and ^wdwparksgal for the feature! I feel honored
Just uploading this to use as my new DeviantArt ID.
This is not a photo manipulation, it's my real reflection in my wife's eye
How it was done:
A 300ws strobe with 2x2 soft box on my wife at 1/8 power
another 2x2 soft box on me at full power directly beside me.
7D and a 2.8 100mm Canon macro lens about 35cm away from the eye.
Image intentionally overexposed to bring out the colour in the eye.
Given the distance of the lights to each subject, there was roughly 10x more light on me that on her.

This...looks like something you'd see out of a horror film...don't get me wrong, I love it, it's just...this is like, that moment where the young woman we all know is going about to die is looker at the killer as he pulls out a knife, and she can't do anything because she is like tied up or something...or maybe I see that because I have an over active imagination...anyway, this is really pretty too.

Wow! Stunning!
I love the concept of taking a picture of yourslef in the mirror while holding your camera, but you have brought it to a whole new level. It's fabulous and I love your originality and unique idea. The only thing that bothered me was the area where the flash or light (I'm forgetting the term for that right now) looks like a square in her eye. I think you should have edited that pat; however, otherwise, it's amazing!

Absolutely stunning! So crisp, so perfectly sharp. You totally nailed it the way I had hoped to capture mine and got all the details I missed. Bravo! Hey and thanks for the Llama

I love the detail around the edges of the pupil. Kind of string-like effect. Very nice. At first glance, this would be a great signature pic to use by itself. Some tweaks that it may look good in would be a light sepia tone or B&W.
I think for another cool effect or if you really wanted to focus and capture the detail in the eye, you could take it again, but wear a black longsleeve (to blend in with the pupil). After the pick is taken, go into photoshop and take out the glares of the hotboxes. That way you get the cool effect of your hands holding the camera, the 3rd dimension of the camera as the center of the pupil, and no distraction from the glares of the hotbox. (just an idea).
Great pic though. I really like it. I added to my favorites.
