***PLEASE FULL-VIEW***I did an art trade with and she wanted me to draw Ariel from The Little Mermaid. It was really fun to draw in my "cute" style again, especially since I got to color it with my Copic markers (which I haven't used in forever due to my most important colors drying out). I got some new markers, so here is a drawing colored with Copic markers, inked with colored Sakura Micron Pigment Liners, touched up with a white gel pen, and painted (the blue background) with watercolors. Anyway, it looks sort of weird because I actually drew the drawing incredibly crooked on the paper, so I rotated it and edited the weird cut-off sides. Those pink things she's holding are pearls. I hope you like it, Jeny!

Two deviants agree on trading art. One requests the other to draw something for him/her, and the other does the same. So my friend wanted Ariel, so I drew her Ariel in return for her drawing something that I requested (which I don't remember).

Is something up with your scanner? A lot of the lines on here (her mouth and fins especially) look really jagged and like... Not sure how to describe it.
Also, want me to teach you a trick about scales? 8D I'm excited to tell you because for once I actually know something.

Ah, I don't know. It might be the resizing process since my scanner always scans things in HUGE. The fact that I can't ink really well also might play a factor, ha ha.

If you only make one or two "clumps" of scales in a picture, the brain usually imagines the rest of the body/tail/whatever still has that same texture. You could also try shading it using the ink on the scales as shadows or light, but that'll probably take a bit of bractice.
If that inking had been on purpose, you could make a lot of money for doing...awesome diagonal lines.

I still wish Disney hadn't had botched up Little Mermaid for kids...heck in the original by Hans C. Anderson her name was Undine, described a little differently too.
