Yes. Have you ever looked into it? I believe in rational thought and evidence, not blind faith. There is plenty of evidence that the Bible is reliable and an accurate account of history.

So what you are saying is that even if you are confronted with solid facts and evidence, you will still deny it?

If you are interested in evidence then I will show you. If you are not interested then that is your choice.

Not to throw a wet blanket on either your effort or your devotion, but have you considered the fact that "other" is not just a noun; it is also a verb. As a verb, "others" means: to view or treat (a person or group of people) as intrinsically different from and alien to oneself. If understood in this light, even by accident, this piece seems to promote a message of intolerance, not joy.

Actually, I agree with you.
Not going to bash the deviation, but my first reaction was a feeling of
Christian intolerance, or you're an outsider cause you're not pro-Jesus....
I thought it was preachy at first xD

Not necessarily. For the most part, others is perceives as in people who aren't you, rather than people who are different. In fact, you'd have to go out of your way to jump to that conclusion.

b1gfan In reply to bT-Miscreant [2013-03-23 06:02:12 +0000 UTC]
In fact, I didn't have to go out of my way to reach that conclusion at all. I didn't even have to "jump" all that much. When confronted with word unfamiliar groups, the first impulse of many is to seek a pattern to them that would give them meaning. Sometimes that pattern is informed by context; sometimes it is informed by grammar.
In this case, the first pattern I saw was grammatical: since "others" can be used as a verb, the first possible pattern to present itself to me was the sentence option of Jesus (noun) others (verb) you (direct object) That pattern (N+V+D.O.) is actually the most common simple sentence pattern in the English language. Given that "others" is used as a verb in some circles (and most especially in circles that include populations of the vulnerable - people Christ came to embrace) and given that that use creates a negative and potentially very misleading impression, I thought thew artist would want to know about it. That's all.
If the message of the piece is correct and "others" should come before "you" in the equation of life, then how about we think through the possible perspectives of those "others" before we dismiss them as unlikely or unimportant.

You really do have to go out of your way to interpret as such.
Either that or be part of an extremely limited minority of people.
Pointing it out was interesting, but going out of your way to defend the idea that it's totally something that "others" will see as well....
Yeah, nah, just stop.

Or perhaps it's going out of your way to make nothing more than a snide comment...maybe that's your cue to take your own advice...

ENDZYM3 In reply to b1gfan [2013-03-25 05:40:05 +0000 UTC]
The overall message was very overt. Nothing a single bit of it was snide, in any way.
For a grammar nazi, you seem to have a very warped perception of the English language.
Either you can just accept the fact that someone successfully rebutted your argument and be quiet about it, or you can continue pulling words out of your ass to make me seem like the bad guy, even though my only crime is defending the point made by the previous commenter.
That snide enough for you?

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. I've never thought of using the word "others" that way and from my personal experience the people that I know would not take it as having the meaning that you mentioned. But just in case there is confusion I will edit my description, just to make it clear that I'm not trying to "alienate" people.

No worries I just wanted to be sure you knew so that you could create and possibly promote an informed piece of art. Your other version, the one that positions periods after each word, clearly eliminates all confusion because it eliminates the possibility of thinking the words are meant as a sentence.

Yup, totally appreciate it. I thought that the other one looked better, I was totally surprised that this one got so much attention. Yeah, reading it as a sentence doesn't really read right, lol!

That's part of the fun/value of this site - you get to put your work out there and "test it out" just to see how it works with others. If we can all share honestly but respectfully with each other than it's all good. You have a great eye for color and layout, and your devotion to your beliefs is admirable. Keep on creating my friend.
