Just a wicked little mermaid, perhaps a northern cousin of the lionfish (or a case of convergent evolution). She was loads of fun to doodle, and I'm terribly fond of her. Watercolors and brown Micron, 2.5" x 3.5" on cardstock.Prints are available for sale at my Etsy shop: [link]

Great idea, a rust mermaid. First of all, I love rusty colors haha. But it's cool, like, you'd find her near sunken ships all rusty and everything. Like an elemental or something. She looks sorta mischievous.

A rust elemental sounds like an awesome idea - I actually meant the rusty bit here in reference to their coloration, but now I want to draw an actual rust fairy or elemental.

Thanks - I've had a lot of fun experimenting with colors lately! This one was supposed to come out with an intense but desaturated look, so I was really happy with the end product.
