Description
Given some of DC Comics redesigns of their core characters, I thought I'd give some thought as to a new look for some familiar characters...Superman takes some of his cues from the Jim Lee design, in the high collar and lack of 'undies'. I don't like the idea of Superman wearing armor, but I do think his uniform should look more 'alien', like a Kryptonian space suit of sorts. The high collar becomes a sort of half-cowl, extending up his neck. The chest symbol is more of a sculpted design. The secondary blue color and red trim was just there to break up the solid blocks of color in his uniform, giving it more of a "unitard" or "jumpsuit" kind of feel.

I like this one, because it takes away his hefty athletic frame. Let's face it, Superman doesn't really need to exercise if he did, the only thing that could give him a workout would be lifting dwarf star matter, UNLESS You're going towards post-crisis where he was powered down. So the idea of him having a thinner frame came common to me. Batman however does, he lifts weights, gymnastics, isometrics, martial arts, so he should be BUILT. Batman's a fighter, Superman isn't, if he cant do it with punches, he does it with heat vision, if he cant do it with heat vision, freeze breath, if not freeze breath, super speed, whatever.
And you captured the most important feature of all...............his spit curl. Very well done.

I don't see why so many people in comments said they dislike it, because IMO, this is the perfect Superman design - frankly, it might be the best Superman design without the red trunks I have seen in my life. It's close in style to New52 design, but it has much more red, providing better color balance - and added contrast from dark blue makes the suit look more dynamic, and dynamism is what Superman is all about - they don't call his magazine Action Comics for nothing - and the bisected red lines kinda evoke feeling of a sportsman tracksuit, which is great because red trunks were supposed to evoke feeling of a circus strongman.
There is a bunch of neat touches here - how shoes appear to be put on differently from Earth shoes, how coat of arms and the cape form almost one shape together, how the New52 high collar thing is extended to cover sides of his head, Kid Flash-style (making him look - more "combat ready", more fast, more alien - all at the same time).
That is a really, really cool design! It keeps what's iconic about the character, and changes what's not - for the better. Great job!

Look, I'm going to be honest. It's a very nice drawing, but it just doesn't feel like "Superman" to me. It takes what I don't like about the New52 costume and just makes it worse. Now, I'm not saying that it's a bad suit. Replace the \S/ shield with something else, and you could have a great superhero. I'm just saying that it doesn't feel right for Superman/

Hi, I really love your re design! mind if I use it for a character in a fan fiction I'm planning on writing? and if it not to much to ask could you draw another redesign with the blue background of his suit grey, or a darker blue? (darker than the blue running along the sides), and the s shield black with a red inside?
