SLS is going to be an awesome launch to see, missed out on the Saturn V but did see alot of Shuttle launches.

Beautiful! The SLS rocket will not be painted white now to save weight. It will be an orange main tanks like the retired Shuttle booster main tank.

Using your scale I can see why NASA wants the SLS so badly.
While it is true that SpaceX's rockets will be reusable, right now they can't lift an extremely heavy load (until Elon Musk begins creating his Falcon XX), like Skylab. (A concept for Skylab 2 is also in the works.)
It also uses tried and true technologies (space shuttle era solid boosters and Apollo capsule design) which their already testing.
Then there's the fact that SpaceX can't just bump someone else off their list just for them.
