Ah, those crazy lovebirds! There they are, defiantly, uh... defying the "no fraternization" rule, and DAMN the consequences! Sure, Flint's a little on the jealous/possessive/arrogant side, but when someone's willing to risk everything for you, well... how can you not melt?I would dearly love to be able to draw/paint like so many of these talented DA artists, but I have to 'fess up and admit that I will forever be a quick-sketch-and-slap-some-colour-on-it kinda gal. Work with your strengths, I say! And for a final added touch, my dear husband (who graciously posed for this drawing!), suggested that I drop the lineart that I had SO been struggling with forever, and y'know... he's right! It looks better like this!

Lady Jaye was ten times sexier than Scarlet. When the artist that created the character, Lady Jaye, did so, he based her on a known actress from the late 1970's. She was Adrianne Barbeu.

Out of all the Joe couples this is my favourite
Especially since my friends have this game where we decide which characters we are in a different universe.
I ended up Flint with my girlfriend was Lady Jaye.

Wonderful! Lady Jaye was a great part of my childhood, and she and Flint were one of my favourite cartoon couples. Considering that there's quite of bit of Lady Jaye fanart out there, the fact that you like this piece is a real thrill for me! Many thanks!

Don’t start with me… Duke and Scarlett is a fake couple that’s based on nothing but laziness… Snake Eyes and Scarlett have been together for 30 years, they’ve never question their love and they have never broken up… that’s something a lot of other comic book couples can’t live up to. There’s no way a woman like Scarlett would fall for such a bland boring character that was just created because the 80’s cartoon and to sell toys And the reason for Duke and Scarlett being a "pseudo" couple who never even kissed at all in the cartoon was to suit the convenience of the animators who didn't want to work around Snake Eyes' muteness. Duke in fact kissed two other women, one that was right in front of Scarlett. Notice how Scarlett was fazed out of the show altogether by Season 2 in favor of Flint/Lady Jaye. Hama and Marvel wouldn't budge on Snake Eyes/Scarlett, and Sunbow had no back story for her and Duke, so he dropped her for Lady Jaye. From Metal Machine News: Larry faced the difficult task of showcasing the latest toys in the comic. “Characters like Duke, Sgt. Slaughter, and the Fridge were sort of pushed on me and never made any inroads into my personal fantasy cortex. Whereas Snake Eyes, Scarlett, and Storm Shadow have taken up residence there."

Nyah. _I_ like Duke with Scarlett. Last I heard from Larry Hama on Facebook, he's come to really like Duke. By the way, your concept for why Scarlett wasn't in season 2 quite so much is way off the mark. She was, in face, in several episodes, but it wasn't marvel or Larry, who had nothing to do with the show, it was Hasbro, who gave the writers a list of who to write about, so they could push new toys, they wanted to push the newer figures.
Snake Eyes and Scarlett have broken up more than once. Oce in Devils Due comics and more than once in IDW, who now has her paired with mainframe..ugh.
In the end, comic fans or toon fans, it's a silly argument. People like what they like. It's a toon. Let fans be fans.

I enjoy your line art also....FYI in rl my wife is LJ despite what the story says, Scarlett went with Duke and Flint was captured by Cobra had a love affair with The Baroness, which made Destro angry and Flint became Dr. Mindbenders puppet, years later LJ and I got married and now have 3 kids, she is the love of my life...I would love to see this with me and LJ!!

I never realized there was so much Flint-Dislike out there until I started researching this project, but I gotta admit that he does come across as a bit of an ass. Lady Jaye just can't help herself, I guess (hormones, I tells ya...)! Glad you like it!

Well, I don't loathe him, but he does act a bit full of himself sometimes. I like to think that Jaye can look past that--and possibly knock him into shape.

Thank you! I guess I just assume that everyone on DA is expecting extremely polished pieces every single time, and my work is decidedly NOT polished. I haven't given up on the lineart, though, so don't be surprised if it shows up eventually!
