Apologies for the sadness here, but....*sniff*So, Cortland and Anders finally get around to talking about what being a Grey Warden really means for Anders and his life expectancy...It's hitting Cortland pretty hard.

Gah! I am still holding out a sliver of hope that Avernus or the Architect or SOMEBODY will come up with something. Not necessarily a cure, but a way of slowing it down. I'm holding out hope not just for my Hawke/Anders, but for my Cousland/Alistair too.

I kept expecting something about the Taint my first DA2 playthru and didn't get a mention til the DLC. Just makes him desperately tragic. Even without Justice there's no room for a happy ending. It's no wonder really that the mage has no patience for gradual change. If ever there was a reason to make every moment count, right? Thank you for the lovely image!

I'm guessing that the shortened lifespan isn't something that would have bothered Anders that much until he met Hawke; let's face it - his lifestyle isn't exactly one that leads to longevity anyway. He probably didn't think much about his own Calling, because I think on one level he knew it would be unlikely he'd live that long anyway. Apostates aren't exactly known for living a long, peaceful life, after all! It wasn't until he met Hawke that he had a real reason to want to live longer and have a chance at a normal life. The expression on his face here is very much "Damn and blast it!" Or possibly "Andraste's flaming knicker-weasels."

You know what pissed me off? I played DA2 with my Act3 savegame and my Hawke discovered about the Calling 3 years after she and Anders had a relationship... I mean, I know about game dynamics, but is it possible that Anders never explained her that he has no more than 20 years yet to live? As if the possession wasn't enough...
