Description
A friend commissioned me to paint his D&D character. This character is a Kenku:"Kenku are a race of flightless avian humanoids.Β Although they evolved from avians, the Kenku had no wings or capacity for flight. Instead, they had arms in place of wings and bird-like talons for hands and feet."
I was given a picture of the his miniature to use as a reference. It portrays his character as being a martial arts master, with a katana, spear, and blue robe with red trim similar to what I've portrayed here.

Dude, this is amazing. I've had very little interaction with this particular creature, but the web series "Critical Role" had a young nonplayer character who was this race, and you captured exactly how I imagined them to look. This is just gorgeous in every detail, from the kinetic folds in the clothing, to the pose, to the character's features and those insanely hard to do highlights on black feathers/fur. And the background is beautiful, too, sort of impressionistic in style but really lending itself to the feel that this takes place on a misty nightscape.Β
Everything about it is just lovely, and I can't overstate how thrilled I'd be if I was the recipient of this one. Great work.
