Description Seriously, this is just basic logic:
Even if I get your message right away, it will still take me several minutes to find the answers I think you're looking for and compile them for you.
Chances are I don't even have the information you're looking for.
Chances are also pretty good the problem has nothing to do with me specifically or anything I have been made or done, but a general question that has been asked many times already. (At best, I or something I have made or done coincides with you needing the information.)

Googling (or using Bing) will load within SECONDS.
You didn't expect anyone else to do your work for you, so they don't resent you!
You alone know exactly what you're looking for, so you alone can know whether you have found it.

Personal ClarificationNB: I am willing to provide help for:
Problems or questions specific to things I have made or done
Problems or questions that you believe I can answer that are so rare as to not appear in deviantART's FAQ and Help system or Google 's results
Clarification on using features that I have experience in that are inadequately described in the help/FAQ/etc
Redirecting to good resource groups such as #Emotication and recommending artists/resources/tutorials (however don't forget you can use deviantART search!)

GOOD QUESTIONS:
How do you shade the text to look recessed? This is something I personally do.
How do you do that shine effect? I have my own method for soft shine and bubble gloss, so you won't find a tutorial on this.
Are you going to be making an avatar or [name] since you have done [name] and [name]? This is specific to something I do that you are wanting more information about.
May I please use [piece] in [project]? Good on you for asking. This is not an aswer Google or dA's FAQ can give since it is based on my choice.

BAD QUESTIONS
How do I open/unzip a zip/rar file? This... is an unbelievably common question there is PLENTY of help for without even scrolling past the first page . It is not worth waiting the ten minutes to a day-and-a-half for me to receive your message and answer it.
How do u maek stamps/emotes Hey, guess, what? deviantART has a tutorial section! And you can search for stamps , emoticons , or sprites at your leisure! In the case of emoticons, I recommend #Emotication . They have a list of great tutorials, projects, mentors and more!

Except if you search on google, they will know what you search. Your search history will be datamined and sold to the highest bidder.

Too much yes-ness in one stamp.
I need to see your license and registration, buddy.

Have you ever heard of Let Me Look That Up For You?

Yeah, I use that quite often. I feel like I'm being a bit of a bitch to excessively use it without provocation, though, so I only use it when the questions are face-palm worthy. Some are beyond reason though; as much as tell them THIS HAS NOTHING TO WITH ME, YOU'RE COMPUTER IS AT FAULT they still come to ME to fix the problem instead of dealing with the programmes themselves or something.

I haven't used it a lot because I just found out about it a few days ago, but I think it's funny.

It drives me CRAZY when people ask me what song I've used. Especially when I put the song and artist in the description. -_- I love this stamp!

I somewhat agree, a lot of things can be solved just by googling or going to devARTs faq/help or even searching for tutorials. It's the first thing I do if I'm stuck and it IS quicker. But I personally don't mind answering questions myself, in the end it is often related to your work

As for those whom keep asking the same question even if you've answered; I'll only clearly answer twice with all the info the need then leave them to go figure. I have little patience for ignorance.

i guess this is where we differ. Personally i really don't mind people asking me questions like that. Ok, if its a simple as unzipping a file it can be a little tedious, but when it comes to emotes or stamps they are unique to our community and although you can search for tutorials, you don't always know how to slim down the results to what you want. If something is asked often enough i either make a tutorial for it or bookmark a relevant page. I'd rather people ask than feel stupid or left out of our community.

At the end of the day, it really doesn't take long to say 'check out #Emotication ' or 'Here's a tutorial which should help'. Just my opinion though

Actually as a note when I get asked endlessly about emotes, recommending Emotication is normally the first thing I do. For other stuff, I usually give them a link to a page of deviantART search results. I used to cherry pick for them, but since the ones I sent were invariably in the top dozen results anyway...

I don't mind if it is a short question, but if someone comes up to me expected TECH SUPPORT because they used one of my resources or want step-by-step instructions.... which I then give... only to have them ignored and be asked the same thing AGAIN.... rrrrrr.

Generally I'm pretty willing to help, but I don't see why people would wait TEN HOURS for an answer they could find themselves in TEN SECONDS.
